Today is the day. New Yorkers are heading to the polls to select their top picks for #NYCMayor.

Over the past few months, @howiewolf spoke with the candidates who want the job of running America's biggest city. Here's where they stand: bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…
.@AndrewYang: “The city is the most profound catalyst for human capital development and transformation in the history of the world, perhaps. And that’s what we have to sustain." bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…
.@mayawiley: “I felt called into the race because Donald Trump was attacking everything we've been fighting for and building over the past decades.” bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

Alright, my vote number 1 for #NYCMayor is Kathryn Garcia, number 2 Eric Adams. Still have to decide 3,4,5. First time we are doing a ranking election in the city.
The field of career politician candidates for NYC mayor this time is diverse, impressive, accomplished. We don't really need someone with zero experience in government taking over arguably the most important city in the world. City govt largely works. It has flaws. But works.
A Goebbelsian lie repeated frequently by right wingers and centrists alike is the NYC is somehow a wasteland on the brink of collapse and needs overhaul. Which is so far removed from the truth that I despair about objective truth ever becoming relevant again in politics.

“The first thing I’d do as mayor us go to our police force and say, this city needs you,” Andrew Yang says in #NYCMayor debate. “Defund the police is the wrong approach.”
Eric Adams’s answer focuses on restoring the plainclothes units disbanded last year after George Floyd to deal with gangs and the “real pervasive handgun problem.”
Morales says if more money for police meant safety, NYC would already be the safest city in American; “address the systems and not the symptoms.”
