Naji Al-Ali is a great #Palestinian artist and figure that has always fought strongly for the Palestinian cause by his paintings and powerful words. He drew Handala, a famous caricature that symbolizes Palestinian defiance.
"He was the arrow of the compass, pointing steadily towards Palestine. Not just #Palestine in geographical terms, but Palestine in its humanitarian sense—the symbol of a just cause," Al-Ali said.
Al-Ali was assassinated in London, and on August 29, he died of his wounds. Whatever they did, we, Palestinians, a generation after a generation will hold the Palestinian message till we gain our freedom.

Today, 29 August, on the 34th anniversary of #NajiAlAli’s death, we honor his life as a Palestinian caricaturist, artist and advocate.

Naji sought refuge in 1948 with his family in Ain Al Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon. He published his caricatures in local & Arab publications.
Naji was known for his advocacy, siding with the poor and the toiling, his strong adherence to the Palestinian cause, and his criticism of regimes, states, parties and people who work against the oppressed and against the Palestinian cause.
On 22 July 1987, Naji Al Ali was shot under his right eye in London. The shot was targeted and meant to assassinate him. Naji lay in the hospital until he passed away on 29 August 987

Sadly, he was buried in London, despite his request to bury his body in the Ain Al Hilweh camp.
