Or there's the classic sci-fi book Flatland, which asks: what would it be like if we lived in two dimensions? As if we lived in a piece of paper, or only on the surface of a table?
The notion of up and down would be meaningless; we’d only have left and right, and front and back. So we’d be moving in two dimensions rather than three, and we’d also perceive everything around us to have only two dimensions.
There wouldn’t be any going over a fence, or peeking under a door. If a thing blocked your way, it would block it completely, and everything behind it would be completely invisible.

In grad school I studied nanocrystals, little tiny things a few nanometers in size (ten thousand times smaller than a human hair). I was working with @MDrndic who now does a lot of bio-nanoscience too, but when I started we were all focused on nanoelectronics.
There are a ton of cool things about nanomaterials, but what really drew me in is that the laws of physics are fundamentally different at the nanoscale. It's like a crazy sci-fi world that underlies our own!
I did my thesis looking at a type of nanocrystal that can generate current from light, for solar cells, LEDs, etc. What colour light they produce or respond to depends on their size, so each of these vials has a different size nanocrystal of the same material:

1. Abramovich, was permitted by Putin to sell his oil company for $13 billion in 2005 to a Russian State firm. In 2008, he received a $1.8 billion, Russian tax payer funded, loan from Putin's, US sanctioned, VEB bank to bail out his co-owned global steel/mining company, EVRAZ.
2. Side Note 1 - In 2007, Abramovich and his Russian partners paid an estimated $3 billion to purchase three steel plants in the US, (Oregon, Colorado, and Delaware) and five steel plants in Canada (Alberta and Saskatchewan).
3. EVRAZ's US Claymont Steel plant closed on Dec. 2013, just three months before the US/EU imposed Ukrainian related sanctions against Russia. Claymont, Delaware is the boyhood home of VP Joe Biden, the Obama Administration's 2013-2016 public champion of Ukraine's revolution.
