One of my pet peeves lately has been the number of critics speaking dismissively of a work just because it engages in too much "fan service."

1/
You see the charge lobbed against #NoWayHome. "It's just a fan service film!" Similarly against the worldbuilding of #TheBookofBobaFett. And, of course, against the whole story of #Endgame as well. The movies have big fan-pleasing moments; therefore, there must be a problem. 2/
Fan service is certainly a legitimate issue that /does/ bog down certain stories (even some of the above).

The problem is that not all fan service is bad. It's good for stories to please the fans after all! And so we need to distinguish healthy fan service from bad uses. 3/

DiCaprio's 🔥🔥🔥 monologue is exactly everything wrong with us today and it hits so hard💥 ImageImage
#2 Kadaseela Biriyani(2021) | @NetflixIndia
Probably one of the most unique, wonderfully shot Tamil films of the recent past?
Another film that gives Tamil Cinema a an original new cinematic voice in the form of Nishanth Kalidindi💥 Image

Ok, so I just finished rewatching Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse and here are some thoughts about it. For one, and I know some will disagree with me on this, I don't find it better than #NoWayHome.
NWH brought together the three generations of the hero we love while also having a deep story about Peter becoming his own person and not having to rely on others to be Spider-Man.

Spider-Verse was a more shallow story of a kid taking on the role of this hero...
...with the help of alternate versions of Spider-Man. The story is definitely good and fun, and all of the Spider-Men are just as funny and witty as Spider-Man should be while each having their own unique personalities.

I saw #Nowayhome last night, the movie was incredible, but this thread is not about the movie and will contain no spoilers.

This thread is about the poor condition and experience I had at @Marcus_Theatres/@MovieTavern
First lemme preface this by saying that the staff were fine, this thread has nothing to do with them. My issues are complaints that I've had with Movie Tavern since Marcus Theaters took them over. I've seen an overall downtrend in quality that is just unacceptable.
I arrived at the theater around 30 minutes before the showing, as is what is recommended by Movie Tavern to provide staff with adequate time to prep the food. Upon arrival we were told that food orders are done online now and not in person.

Benarkah Thariq bin Ziyad membakar kapalnya ketika membebaskan Andalusia agar pasukannya tidak kabur?

#NoWayHome ?
Wajar saja mereka bergeleng kepala.
