A year after some elected Republicans pretended to be concerned by the ‘send her back stuff’ and Trump himself pretended to semi walk it back and blame his crowd for it, here he is again unleashing open and old-fashioned racism against @IlhanMN tonight at a rally:
The (evil) genius of Trump has been to cross a line, wait for everyone to get outraged the first time, pretend to walk it back or deny it a bit, and then wait a while before crossing it again - but this time to far less outrage from a numbed media and populace. #normalization
The first time he did his ‘send her back’ routine, it was national news and even some Republicans disowned it. Now he does it and even those of us who were outraged the first time are just shrugging our shoulders. It won’t make any headlines or front pages tomorrow morning.
In my neighbourhood there was a serial sex predator breaking into women's homes and sexually assaulting them in their own beds. It's bad enough that women routinely have to take more precautions than men to do basic things like go for a walk or a jog. 1/ #sexualassault #crime
