We can no longer stand by while women in #NorthernIreland are forced to travel to England for abortion care during #covidー19, despite the fact abortion is now legal in NI.

That's why today we have launched a telemedical service to send NI women abortion pills by post. #NowForNI
We will run the service in collaboration with healthcare professionals in #NorthernIreland, for women up to 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Anyone in NI who needs our service can call 0300 500 8086 to arrange a teleconsultation with a doctor in Northern Ireland. #Pillsbypost #NowforNI
Abortion is now legal in Northern Ireland on request up to 12 weeks, but politicians have delayed commissioning services. We cannot stand by while the govt's NI Office gives reckless advice that women should travel to England for help despite #covidー19. #NowForNI

The document emphasises the consultation is **not** seeking views on whether the Secretary of State should be exercising this duty in the first place, the ethics of the matter of abortion, nor the abortion framework in England, Scotland or Wales.

We are closer now than ever before to stories like this one becoming a dark part of NI history.

"My husband and I were expecting our second child. We were told at our 12 week scan at the end of August 2018 that there was a problem. They suspected that it was anencephaly. This is a fatal condition where the babies skull and brain do not develop.
Most of these pregnancies will continue to full-term and the babies will die during labour or within hours of being born. I couldn't fathom continuing with a pregnancy for another half of a year.
