[THREAD🧵] to explain Q3 Results & Nykaa's Business👇

1) Nykaa is involved in three different business segments, which are:

a) Fashion
b) Beauty and Personal Care (BPC)
c) Other

2) The revenue from operations in Q3 is 1,462 crore, reflecting a YoY growth of 33%.

3) There was a 37% growth in the total value of sales, as measured by GMV.
4) There has been a 71% year-on-year decline in the profit after tax, which now stands at 8.5 Cr in Q3.

o Gross profit margin reduced by 293bps

o EBIDTA grew by only 13% but EBIDTA margin fall from 6.3% to 5.3%

Our Research team has upgraded Nykaa from hold to ADD as valuation has turned palatable.

At current price, a reverse DCF shows valuation is factoring in a 15% revenue CAGR, which is reasonable.

On #NYKAA (FSN Ecom), even at the current mkt pls and assuming the most aggressive PAT estimate for FY24, it’s still trading at 178X. Just does not make sense.

A more reasonable PE is 45X which were given for high growth SAAS companies that were making profits. ONE
ONE big mistake investors made when accessing estimates of #NYKAA was that the Avg Ticket size in the DRHP was Rs2500-3000 whcih people didn’t realise was due to RICH people who were NOT able to shop abroad and BUYING sitting at home (Covid) ordering in Bulk.
One more thing, many of these people are now travelling and buying stuff. Or thier friends from overseas are getting it for them.

One more thing. People spent more on Trying out expensive stuff since they were saving money on Salons & Beauty Palor Services.

The IPO price was 1125.
A 5:1 bonus was issued.
Today you own 600 shares.
The cost of your original 100 shares will be your IPO purchase price.
If you sell now at 175, let's see the overall impact. 1/n
First , let us see the tax impact.
Your original 100 shares cost ₹1125.
IPO listing date was November 11, 2021. Share allotment date was between November 1 and 8, 2021.

If you sold your original 100 shares at ₹175, you attract a long term capital loss of ₹950. #Nykaa 2/n
Now to the bonus shares of 500. The cost of these 500 shares will be zero.
When you sell them within a year from the allotment date of the bonus shares, you will attract a short-term capital gains tax of 15%.

1. Consolidated Revenue from Operations grew 24% QoQ and 36% YoY to ₹ 1098.4 Cr in Q3 FY22
2.Revenue from sale of products grew 24% QoQ
3. Income from Marketplace services grew 2% QoQ and 154% YoY in Q3 FY22.

4. Advertisement revenue grew 33% QoQ and 53% YoY in Q3 FY22,
EBITDA was ₹ 69 Cr in Q3 FY22 at a margin of 6.3% vs 3.3% in Q2 FY22.
5. PAT was ₹ 290 million in Q3 FY22 a -58%YoY decline. This was mainly due to higher marketing expense.
