In 2022 I'll ship faster.

The goal is to do 12 projects in 12 months.

In 2021 I focused on online course creation.

First starting with #ODCC1 (h/t @Bazzaruto) and then creating an email-based course (EBC) w/ help from @BigWillieStein

The initial goal was to clear $1k/mo ... instead, I'm approaching €1k/yr

Not quite there but right direction Image
The goal for 2022 is to tighten my own learning loop.

How? Ship a new project every month.

Inspo:
@levelsio - getting the ball rolling
@jonyongfook - adding fun component to the mix
@jakobgreenfeld - adding own spin

Their output is amazing.

My own spin: Studio Approach

🧶 How Andrew Barry created the curriculum for #ODCC1

@Bazzaruto takes us behind the scenes of creating the curriculum for On Deck Course Creators.

Biggest takeaways + video 👇🏼
🧱 Think in first principles: reflect, deconstruct, reconstruct
🚩 Start by defining pillars and high-level buckets of knowledge—these are milestones
🧠 Brain dump a list of topics under each pillar—this is ever-changing, so keep iterating
⏳ Define the steps on the learning journey—consider your constraints, especially time
🎭 Treat the learning journey as a story arc (e.g. following the Hero's Journey)

On the precipice of turning 30 I realize I've experienced the most growth and happiness when I stray from the default path, so it feels apropos now to yeet a career in tech I have no desire to advance in search of brighter dots again /🧵
"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future." Jobs forgot to add the corollary: you have to keep drawing the dots.
The pandemic has fundamentally changed my relationship with money. It used to enable me to fuck around and draw dots of the Jackson Pollock variety, but now I view it as an escape hatch to live life on my own terms, to have the freedom, even if temporary, to follow my curiosity.

Every lesson of your online course is a step in the transformation of your students.

But how do you design each lesson? And make it valuable in itself?

Follow the W-W-H-A framework from @Bazzaruto and answer the following prompts for each lesson👇

#ODCC1
WHY

Why do your students need to know and do what you're about to teach them?
What's in it for them?

Make the benefits crystal clear.
WHAT

What concepts, tools, tactics, techniques are you teaching them in this lesson?

Remember: Less is more!

In a 60-90 min session, 1 or 2 concepts is usually the most people can grasp.
