@ONA the talk was billed as being about motherhood and centered the experiences of mothers, but really it was about broadening all of the diversity & gender equity conversations newsrooms are having. Also, coverage of motherhood is FULL of stereotypes that are rarely called out.
@ONA I gave this talk in an out of the way room, up against a ton of popular speakers to 25 very engaged women. No men showed up. This is a problem, because men still have disproportionate power in newsrooms & all industries. The treatment of mothers isn't just a "niche" women's issue

The inimitable Jane McDonnell served as ONA's Executive Director 2008–2016. In 2018, @freerangejane was honored with the Rich Jaroslovsky Founder Award for her extraordinary commitment and contributions to digital journalism.
