People ask this a lot!

Short answer is, nazis had a rally in Philly, I got mad and outed some of them, and @AntiFashGordon tempted me into this Twitter life of glamour and intrigue you see before you.
Longer story: I double-majored in sociology/anthro (a combined dept at @swarthmore) and religion.

While I was studying I just fell in love with ethnography (observing culture, basically) and wrote my thesis on white pagan appropriation of Afro-atlantic religion.
I'd been organizing as a student since I was 16, and got really into labor organizing out of college. I ended up running a community-religious congregation-labor coalition that ran direct action campaigns focused on workers' rights.

Large march against ICE and the camps on the Southern Border. Now walking outside Philadelphia City Hall with many #NN19 attendees — including @DA_LarryKrasner. Chanting “free our kids!”
Leading the chants is @nic_v_orourke of @powerinterfaith who is also running for City Council on the @WorkingFamilies ticket. Large and energized crowd. #NN19
“When Mexico is under attack...
When Venezuela is under attack...
When Puerto Rico is under attack...
When Cuba is under attack...
When Palestine is under attack...
When Philadelphia is under attack...

What do we do? Stand up! Fight back!” #NN19

[Thread] We are increasingly concerned by the cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants and refugees in the U.S., the camps in which they are concentrated and caged, and reports of people dying while in the custody of ICE. It’s time to take action.
Advocates report deeply disturbing conditions:

• People detained in outdoor cages,
• Children deprived of food,
• Babies denied medical care,
• Families held in military camps,
• Lawyers and observers denied entry

It’s up to us to stop this.
Worse: Amid countless stories of abuses in these camps, @KenKlippenstein learned that ICE recently stopped reporting deaths of detainees. We must speak out against this disturbing pattern of disregard for the lives of immigrants — and demand accountability

1) I actually welcome the protest of Antifa and #OccupyICE - Till these protests were invented, funded and implemented by #DeepState / Soros Americans had no idea how much graft existed in Democrat run Urban Areas. America is working just like it should.
2) We set up our Constitution to allow the freedom of Speech, Debate and free association in the Public Square. Now that the attempt to turn the American Government into a National Socialist form of Governance is in the Public Square we can actually debate it.
3) So let's engage. Let's debate. Let's put the ideas out there and see what wins the day. I have confidence that our Constitutional Republic will survive the scrutiny.

Breaking: Oregon Federal Judge Micheal Simon grants @ACLU_OR temporary restraining order against @ICEgov, allowing 121 immigrant detainees in a Sheridan prison immediate access to legal counsel.
Details: For the next 28 days, the feds shall provide lawyers (specifically @lawlab) with access to at least 2 of the prison’s attorney visitation rooms for a minimum of 6 hrs per day (including weekends) to perform ‘know your rights’ trainings and individualized interviews.
Feds should install 4 telephone lines in prison capable of providing free direct calls to legal providers. Detainees allowed phone access between 8 am-8 pm. Feds should provide timely advanced notice.

1. The Trump regime feels threatened by crying children because they — and all refugees — refute the Trumpist/fascist lie that humanity depends upon citizenship.
2. As Hannah Arendt wrote of refugees, they “have lost all distinctive political qualities,” “lost all other qualities and relationships—except that they [are] still human.”
3. Refugees and asylum-seekers embody our shared humanity. They prove that humanity does not depend upon nationality. They prove that Trump is a liar and a bigot.
