A short story:

As chair of @nbasblofficial, @OlumideAkpata moved to reform legal education in 🇳🇬 by setting up NBA-SBL clubs in 6 strategic universities nationwide. I was President of @LawsanNational at the time, and the SBL worked hand-in-gloves with us to drive these reforms..
Olu did great exploits, but I knew capacity-building was lifting men is in his DNA when he mentioned how he's more proud of the SBL Clubs of all his major achievements. Today, the clubs are impacting robust commercial law knowledge and bridging the gap btw academia and industry
Since 2018, I've had the privilege of attending all @nbasblofficial Conferences in Abuja and Lagos with a team of delagates from @LawsanNational and 5 students each from the clubs; 100% free and all expense paid in platinum, thanks to @OlumideAkpata

No society or its commerce can thrive without an effective justice system. This, amongst other factors, has necessitated a consistent call for reforms in the justice delivery sector.
It has increasingly become apparent that high-value disputes tend not to be litigated-#OluForAll Image
in Nigeria and that parties often opt for arbitration at a foreign seat.
We must take steps to create an effective justice system that will instill confidence, work for the citizenry and for other users of the system. Transparency in,  and independence of, the - #OluForAll

As one who started out as a litigator, I am aware that the pains and challenges that I faced in that capacity have continued to plague our colleagues who ply their trade in the courtrooms.
The Bar that is needed today to change this narrative is ... Image
one that not only advocates, but ensures, that there is a better docket management system for our judges, proper liaison and communication between the Bar and the Bench, improved facilities for lawyers in the courts, ..
a more efficient filing and service of processes system and a fast-track approach to the disposal of proceedings.
With Transformational Leadership, there is so much that we can achieve. #oluforall

The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has declared that it is yet to set a deadline for the ongoing voter’s verification exercise.
This is contrary to speculations that verification was billed to end yesterday.
So I encourage all eligible voters to take out time to get verified ahead of the polls on 24 July, 2020. #oluforall

One of the most impactful dicta to have proceeded from a judicial mind was uttered by Lord Denning in the case of Parker v. Parker (1953) 2 All E.R. 121 when the former Master of the Rolls said these immortal words:
"What is the argument on the other side? Only this, that no case has been found in which it has been done before. That argument does not appeal to me in the least. If we never do anything which has not been done before, we shall never get anywhere...
"...The law will stand still while the rest of the world goes on and that will be bad for both.”

On this day that has been set aside by the UN as the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence, I stand in solidarity with every woman, and indeed every one, who has been a victim of sexual violence or harassment. #OluForAll #NoToSexualViolence Image
As a society, we must all rise up to forcefully condemn these acts, and as a profession, we must play our part in ensuring that every victim gets justice and that the growing trend of such violence and harassment is nipped promptly. #OluForAll #NoToSexualViolence Image
We must all do our bit as an association to eradicate the growing scourge of sexual harassment and other indignifying acts in our workplaces. #OluForAll #NoToSexualViolence

I have followed up on the very disturbing news of the arrest of the CUPP Spokesman, Ikenga Ugochinyere, despite a subsisting order of court, and I have been assured that he will be released this morning.
It is my understanding that the Police claimed ignorance of the subsisting order of court. Having now been apprised, I expect them them to immediately do the right thing. Obedience to orders of court is not negotiable.
Protecting lawyers from police brutality is a matter that is very dear to me, as is every lawyer’s welfare. One which I will be devoting even more of my personal time, commitment and resources to. #OluForAll
