I am astonished at what I am hearing on @LBC right now about #OperationArk and the peddling of the narrative that it diverted manpower and focus on the ground in Kabul and within government. The narrative is now turning towards the 1,000 Afghans left behind to an uncertain fate…
…all being blamed on Pen Farthing. This is making my blood boil yet again.
The evacuation has not been handled well by the government from start to finish.
The government ignored intelligence that the Taliban take over was immunity and took action too late in the day.
Biden unilaterally decided on the withdrawal timetable and then changed the rules on Thursday at the US controlled airport that Afghan passport holders could no longer leave - with or without authorisation or visas. The shutters came dow before everyone made it out.

Today the vet told me that since Covid, they’ve had to treat a number of cats with depression caused by irritation that their people are at home all day. Obviously it’s not really funny but… that’s the most Cat thing I’ve ever heard. Apparently dogs do not have the same problem.

Also, if you wonder why I come & go while reporting, I care for my disabled son after school finishes on week days so had to pop away to attend to him.

This issue is extremely close toy heart, I lost friends from my Regiment in Afghanistan & the unfolding events are terrible
German Air Force has stepped up evacuation efforts at Kabul Airport after confusion last night.

Many more Afghans at risk evacuated to Germany.

While the area around the perimeter of Kabul Airport is hectic and dangerous, inside the secure zone on tnd military side is much more calm.
