Mass burial is being held today for victims of that atrocious #owomassacre . We seem to have become numbed by death, we tend to move on quite easily. But let us not forget Veginus Nwani and his daughter, 11yr-old Chidiogo that died in the attack. 1
Chidiogo was one of four children who died that day. After the shooting, her brother carried his sister's body to the nearest hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. 2
Let us not forget Mr and Mrs Onuoha who were sitting beside each other in church when the attack happened. Neighbours and friends remember Mrs Onuoha, a petty trader, as always being willing to help. Her husband was a gardener at a university. 3

The APC Convention might have masked the post #OwoPentecostMassacre #OwoMassacre unease.

It doesn’t mean it’s somehow gone away or forgotten.

SW Governors need to take confidence building measures to avoid tension & possible public disaffection, leading to break down of order.
A few suggestions:

• Commence massive registration & licensing of all Okada riders & fit their bikes with tracking devices.

• Each riding license must be attached to a specific bike & rider.

• Regulate Okada trade to include training & certification.
• Medium term, explore incentive based/assisted return of migrant IDPs who constitute most Okada riders, to their home states.

• Commence drone monitoring of forests, especially along major highways.

Follow these steps to save a gunshot victim from dying;

1. Make sure you are safe first!

2. Shout for help or make a brief SOS call to alert others.

3. Look for any source of bleeding in the victim; remove their clothing if necessary.
4. Try to stop the bleeding with pressure - if no medical supplies, cover wound tightly with clot, shirt, scarf, etc

5. Keep pressing down hard on the bleeding area with both hands. Press & press!

6. If injury is very deep, press the cloth into it to pack the wound.
