For those just tuning in — this November Pennsylvanians delivered historic victories to Democrats including a majority of seats (by 1 vote) in the PA House for the first time in nearly a decade.
But a tragic death and two resignations left us short 3 seats on swearing in day.

On swearing in day (or the first session day of the new term) we do a number of things including electing a Speaker and approving House rules.

PA Legislative Reapportionment Commission convened to approve Preliminary House and Senate Maps for Pennsylvania’s 203 House districts and 50 Senate districts. The Commission voted 3-2 in favor of the House map and 5-0 in favor of the Senate map.

What’s happening on #PAHouse floor right now is crazy. Speaker runs SB613 to override Gov & force open virtually all businesses right now. All Ds vote no. We file amendments to give all essential workers hazard pay, PPE & paid sick leave if they are infected. Rs block those votes

This debate on SB613 is a matter of life and death: @SecretaryLevine announced 1,146 new coronavirus cases in PA today alone. 25,345 Pennsylvanians have tested positive for COVID-19. 2,228 have been or are currently hospitalized. 584 people have died in our state.
There is a balance to be struck between public health and the economy - everyone agrees on that.
But make no mistake, if we don’t continue to aggressively protect ourselves from the spread of COVID-19, there will be deeper, more damaging ramifications for our economy. 1/
