1/ I haven’t tweeted much this past quadmester, because it’s been crazy busy, but now that the sprint at the end of the marathon is complete, after reading my students end of course survey responses, I have some reflections…
2/ First of all, I used #LevelledTestQuestions throughout the quadmester, and as anticipated, my Ss really appreciated them. Ss could select the hardest question they could answer, or if they wanted, they could answer multiple questions.
3/ I could choose the one which provided the most evidence of their level of understanding.

Here is their feedback on this type of testing from my end of course survey: ImageImageImageImage

Powerful! Tim Cook - "Technology does not need vast troves of personal data stitched together across dozens of websites and apps in order to succeed." inc.com/justin-bariso/…
"Advertising existed & thrived for decades without it, and we're here today because the path of least resistance is rarely the path of wisdom." - Tim Cook.
"If a business is built on misleading users on data exploitation, on choices that are no choices at all, then it does not deserve our praise. It deserves reform." - Tim Cook

1/ I have made the difficult decision to resign from my K-8 STEAM lab. Florida’s infections are out of control, school board plans aren’t acknowledging it, I need to more time to help my children learn safely at home on a bell schedule, and an infected relative is doing poorly.
2/ I love what I get to do. However, this situation is unbelievably difficult for teachers to be expected to work through. I’m aware of the technical demands and therefore the time that will be required to carry out our school board’s plans. It is unreasonable.
3/ In pressing on to stay open bc not all of our metrics are the worst, Florida’s governor is not considering the quality of life that infection without death can cause, including organ and/or neurological damage, potentially devastating medical debt, psychological trauma, etc.

Teachers: please do not look at virtual learning as an opportunity to give students more work because they will have time to do it while they are at home. They will probably have less time than normal. Some might be looking after siblings as parents work. 1/?
Some might be helping other family members cope with anxiety or might be dealing with it themselves. Students deserve time to cope just like everyone else right now. Think of different ways that you can have your students learn and support their mental health. 2/?
Look at giving students projects that give them the freedom to explore, investigate, and learn things that are meaningful to them. If there was ever a time to explore #PBL, now is the time. Work to guide students through their learning. 3/?

Since it took me so long to post pics from the Dec. 5 @JCASLKY Holiday Party @Flanagans502, I thought I'd make a thread of it. We shared our #AASL19 stories and had toasted ravioli, chicken wings, artichoke, spinach dip, veggies, cake.
Guess who won a door prize @JCASLKY’s Holiday Party? JCASL’s secretary @Amy_BakerLMS & occasional @KylChat mod. Amy helps facilitate so many great things @WilkersonTElem. Svc projects, collabs, newscasts, & more to show #kidscanmakeadifference. #jcpslibraries @jcpsforward.
@Amy_BakerLMS wasn't the only winner. Everyone but one at the Holiday Party walked away with a door prize! Sorry, @crystoannielib. Speaking of, here she is with Stacie Alvey @alveyinthelib, Kim Tullbane, and Jackie Marrs @Reederchik. They are all #LeadingFromTheLibrary this year.
