Today @twitter is opening our offices in SF and NYC. Our hearts go out to any tweeps around the world still unable to come back to an office, but this is a long awaited day for many.
It’s going to be different, both near term with COVID-protocols, and long term. We aren’t asking everyone to return. Ever. We will attract and retain the best people, enabling the most creative and productive work of their careers, whether on their sofa or in an office.
We will create new norms. Some of us are nervous extroverts or live in tight quarters without good focus space. Others will feel unshackled from meetings, urban areas, face time, or a century’s office norms, free to avoid a commute, small talk, or even traditional hours.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but:
On July 11 #SanDiego will host a #Pride march and
the theme is #Resiliency

Related: I've learned a person who harassed/threatened me in 2019- until a court issued a restraining order against him- will likely be part of this event.

1/x
It's "likely" because he's been hired by an LGBTQ advocacy organization

Their Exec Director was not aware he's had 3 restraining orders in the last 15 yrs: One for harassment, two for #domesticviolence

I often relive this abuse & harassment since it happened in my home

2/x
I had wanted to attend the march w/friends- But the more I thought of being in public, surrounded by others who have been traumatized in recent years, the less appealing it became.

As a survivor: It's hard feel safe or be "resilient" when an abuser is marching with me.

🏳️‍🌈 Ruth Coker Burks 🏳️‍🌈
“In 1984, when Burks was 25 & a young mother living in Arkansas, she would often visit a hospital to care for a friend who had cancer. During one visit, she noticed the nurses would draw straws, afraid to go into one room, its door sealed by a big red bag.
She asked why and the nurses told her the patient had Gay-Related Immune Deficiency (GRID), later known as AIDS. On a repeat visit, and seeing the big red bag on the door, Burks decided to disregard the warnings and sneaked into the room.
In the bed was a skeletal young man, who told her he wanted to see his mother before he died. She left the room and told the nurses, who said, "Honey, his mother’s not coming. He’s been here 6 weeks. Nobody’s coming”. Burks called his mother anyway, who refused to come visit her

Feliz Dia do Orgulho LGBTQIA+!!
#pride #orgulholgbt

A ARTIGO 19 saúda a divulgação do relatório histórico. (+)

There’s no #Pride in war profiteering! @HRC recently lauded weapons manufacturer @RaytheonTech for its commitment to “ensuring equal rights” for LGBTQ+ employees. While advocating for equal rights is great, using LGBTQ+ rights to pinkwash US crimes of war is not. 🧵
As then 2nd-largest weapons maker in the US, Raytheon supplies weapons to the Saudi-led coalition to use in the brutal war on Yemen. Despite its complicity in the "world's worst humanitarian crisis," Raytheon has gone to great lengths to ensure they continue to turn a profit 😠
I don't know about you, but a corporation that makes its money off the murder of innocent Yemenis should not be celebrated for anything– let alone its so-called “corporate social responsibility efforts.”

Why do so many people feel the attraction, or love, for the same sex is so different and out of the norm, than for the opposite sex?

Because, for time immemorial we've been indoctrinated, therefore predisposed to believe that's so. But, homosexuality has been around
since time immemorial and that's never going to change, or go away, just because some people wish it so. So by punishing homosexuality, by withholding the rights that everyone should be allowed, equally,
we are only allowing the mistreatment, of millions of people in the world, to take place via an unfair & unreasonable bias.

When can the citizens of the world come to their sense of fairness and realize that equality is a basic human right. Equality without partiality. #LGBTQ

3/4 /karl

Yesterday was the kind of day in #NYC that future generations will talk about, like the WWII V-Day celebrations. #pride is always a fun time here (except last year obviously). But this was like a collective sigh followed by a love filled wholesome celebration. And so chill!
Other days when the streets of Manhattan are filled, like NYE, Halloween, Thanksgiving, St. Pattys, etc, mostly chill but there will still be some little tensions and jostling and occasional curses and "I'M WALKIN' HERE"s

Never at #pride

Except from the police.
It's like some elements of the NYPD are keen to do a small historical reenactment every year of what started the Stonewall Riots in the first place - police unfairly and violently going after queer folk in the West Village.

It is such an act of petulance by them. Every year!

Just a word about Christians, their OT Bible, and homosexuality...

Thousands of years ago, in a land, far, far away, a ridiculous book was written, that millions today love to quote, but never follow.

I was just watching a gay-themed short...
and there is a teacher, who is a holier-than-thou type, who stated: God chose Noah to build the ark because he was a righteous man, so he and his family could survive the flood. He then asked his class: Do you know why the animals on the ark are pairs of male and female?
His answer was: This is because after the flood, they could reproduce and give offspring.

People are no longer required to repopulate the earth, if some people want to believe these fables to be true. Therefore, in the 21st century, it is not necessary, nor is it required

Cops just deployed pepper spray on people at Washington Square Park.
Basic overview: People at the arch were agitating, barricade was moved to create more space for parkgoers. Cops inside the pen started forcefully shoving it back. A woman became agitated and shoved it back at them, prompting one latch to become unhooked.
When the one barricade became detached, a single cop shoved it extremely hard, causing it to slam into a woman. People went to the barricades to yell at the cops for not being careful and hurting a woman. It’s at this point NYPD deployed pepper spray.

I’m at #WashingtonSquarePark for #pride where multiple marches are expected to converge. It’s already packed.
Stonewall Protests is at WSP leading the crowd in chants including “Black lives matter,” “Stonewall was a riot,” “Where is my stimulus?” and “White silence is violence”
Looks like two or so homophobes decided to pull up to Washington Square South & W4th where they’re being protected by a deep line of Community Affairs and foot cops. NYPD legal is on site as well.

And #NYCPride is on the move towards Stonewall. 😍😍😍
This is one parade in the city that never has a word of anger uttered.
This is my favorite picture of the day 😍🌈
One thing I love about Americans is the even in a dense crowd, everyone is always trying to respect each other's space as much as possible. No shoulder to shoulder contact unless absolutely necessary and even then, apologetically.
