So the Gov't has gone from promising a review of #VaccinePassports in February...

to officials saying #domestic uses are "dead" and "not going to happen" in May...

independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi…

to the review stating they won't be #mandated in early July...
...to @BorisJohnson announcing they WILL be #mandatory for (mostly) young people from the end of September:

Meanwhile, and despite MONTHS of denials*, it turns out the Government has already spent £23.6 million on #VaccinePassports 👇 and has already cut deals that could run until 2023 at least...

@BorisJohnson #Covidvaccine It’s not a vaccine in the traditional sense, it’s an MRNA cocktail. There is no vaccine for Covid, only a symptom-minimising jab which does not stop you getting or spreading it. Both Pfizer & Moderna concede their jab does not prevent transmission nor immunity.
@BorisJohnson none of the so called vaccines guarantee protection from transmission, so if you have had the vaccine you could still transmit to others. Rendering the idea of vaccine passports irrelevant. As well as being in conflict with basic human rights and civil liberties.
@BorisJohnson It’s against the principles of free and open society and directly implies coercion. Also as I’ve said above. The passport idea is pointless. The vaccines are designed to reduce the impact of symptoms in the individual, they do not protect others from risk.

*sigh*

Tony's STILL banging on about #IDcards, nearly 20yrs later - 'cos make no mistake, that's what #VaccinePassports will become.

Just as WWII's [left 👇] became @10DowningStreet/@ukhomeoffice's [right 👇] with a centralised #biometric #NationalIdentityRegister behind it... ImageImage
...so will #YellowCards [left 👇] morph into 'just an #app on your #phone' [right 👇] - claimed to be 'not #mandatory', of course (unless you want to live your life, work or travel...) and with the centralised #biometric #registration Government has wanted all along. ImageImage
So here's a few questions the #HealthPassport headbangers must answer:

1a) When Heathrow re-opens, given (current) #vaccines don't prevent #transmission, aren't people still going to have to be #tested?

1b) If people have to be tested anyway, what's the point of the 'passport'?

Erm. Sounds like @thetimes has been talking more to Tony than Dom. The 'proposals' (actually a consultation response) are an incoherent mess.

@DCMS never once mentions GP registration - for which proof of #ID is not required; #NHSnumbers work fine...
thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/d… Image
...and while eliminating a bunch of "#PapersPlease" checks might be welcome, it won't if replaced with #GovernmentID checks; digital signatures have existed for years.

Successive Gov'ts have abjectly failed on #AgeVerification, despite what's available:

And, if this *is* a Cummings 'master plan' then he's literally fallen at the first #OODA step:

Hmm. Maybe @DCMS could explain the "regulatory barriers" to "secure digital identities" 👇 and - if indeed they exist - why they weren't addressed for, say, @GOVUKverify? They've had a decade to do this, after all...
gov.uk/government/con… Image
...and I think @DCMS will find that people have been doing online #shopping and #banking quite happily for many years before #COVID19, without the need for #GovernmentID!

In what way has this "become essential" now? Image
#DigitalSignatures for contracts are indeed a use case. But again, I've been using them (e.g. with my accountant) for years. And getting the Government involved in what it acknowledges is already a stressful process seems... counterintuitive. Some might even say risky! Image

And so it begins...

"If you won't put your details on this list, you ain't coming in" is a slippery slope - via "#ImmunityPassports"? - to the (digital) #PapersPlease culture that the #DatabaseState proponents have always wanted.

Muse on that while you sup your pint.
N.B. It's also a wicked marketing set-up for when/if the #nhsxCovid19app launches: "Oh, you're #surveilling yourself, madam - please walk right in! No need for that inconvenient list any more..."

What other #freedoms will folk #surrender for a mere 100cm?
Please note, I am not advising against - in fact I endorse! - sensible #clinical & #PublicHealth advice. Problem is, they just crashed into @10DowningStreet's idea of the #economy. (About which we'll be told more shortly, no doubt...)

Guess who loses?
