The sub-decree signed by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that a maximum fine of 1,250 US dollars would be levied on quarantine violators, up from the existing 250 US dollars.
It said the fines are imposed on individuals who escape from the quarantine facility or refuse to offer their samples for COVID-19 testing.

A laboratory in Cambodia has detected close relatives of the pathogen in samples that have been stored in a freezer for more than a decade, according to a eldery report from Novemeber.
Two viruses detected in the samples, taken in 2010 from horseshoe bats in northeastern Cambodia and reported in research published on Tuesday, behind the Covid-19 pandemic, have a 92.6 percent similarity to SARS-CoV-2.
This makes them the nearest relatives identified outside China and adds new evidence to the investigation into where the pathogen originated from.
