Giving #Paracetamol in cases of mild #Viral #fever may be harmful
1. It is a common practice to give paracetamol (acetaminophen) to children or adults suffering from viral fever. Research evidence shows that we may be causing more harm than good by this practice.

2. Fever is not a disease; it is a symptom of viral infection. Paracetamol can not kill the virus.
Acute infections, including those due to Corona virus and other viruses, often stimulate a febrile response.
3. A mild fever appears to improve #outcome; as it diminishes viral replication by several mechanisms, including virion entry into host cells and genome transcription, and improving host defense mechanisms against the pathogen.

I do eulogize about #Lee #Kuan #Yew from time to time when one needs to seek guidance from a role model.
When asked why didn't #China collapse like the #USSR.
His reply was that the former didn't embrace #glasnost and #perestroika together like the latter did, and paid the price.
Perestroika(Restructuring) began with the Open policy in China under #Deng Xiao Peng.
Gorbachev gets all the wrong credit for its introduction in the East.
Yes, Glasnost (Openness) was a Soviet attempt to embrace human freedoms.
The Soviet Masses were shocked by it.
Chaos ensued.
Good documentaries.
Brings back my childhood memories.

Years prior to this picture (IAIP Conf '18) I had come across Abu Zayd al-Balkhi's original manuscript and written to Dr. Malik Badri about my findings comparing Balkhi's 9th C work to DSM-5

He wrote back encouraging me to publish in mainstream medical peer reviewed journals 1/
With Dr.Malik Badri in the front row, I presented how Balkhi (9th C) may have been the first in history to correctly classify, diagnose and propose functional treatments for #OCD and #phobia an entire MILLENNIUM before the European psychologists credited with both discoveries 2/
Dr. Malik Badri was so proud that day 💔

He gave me a standing ovation when I shared how the historians of medicine who peer reviewed my papers said they re-write the history of psychology and Muslim contributions to the field

I started playing #guitar in college. Some of my friends back home played, so I thought I'd learn. It's been years since I kept up with it. With no job and an empty house, I had time. Plus, I could crank up my amp. Ava would have hated it. All the more reason to do it.

Strumming a few chords or playing a riff through a loud amp usually makes me feel better. It's more of a distraction this time. My amp is a little old. Even a #ragpicker might pass on it. "If you're not going to play it, sell it," Ava nagged. Life always got in the way.

Or I got in the way. Not even ten years ago I kept getting sick all the time. Painful stomach cramps would radiate weakness throughout my body. I learned how to wash it away like healing #rainwater. That's when I really started to figure out who I was and what I could do.
