I've compiled a list of every #PIxar film's RT scores, budget/box office gross & *inflation adjusted* budget/box office gross.
Elemental, which looks stunning, is off to a terrible start...even though its *audience* score is the 4th highest in Pixar's history right now.

Elemental's *critical* score is poor for a Pixar film (it ranks just ahead of the 3 Cars movies, the Good Dinosaur & Lightyear), but each of those still grossed > $500M when adjusted for inflation, while Elemental appears to be praying it'll even hit $200M at the BO.
IOW, the quality of the movie itself does NOT seem to be the issue here--the animation is absolutely stunning and audiences who have actually *seen* it seem to love it. The main culprits seem to be lousy marketing, poor release timing (crowded field) & the streaming glut.

"Dirty Filthy Love" (Adrian Shergold, 2004). Trastorno Obsesivo Compulsivo: El #TOC no es algo gracioso que tiene ese amigo que le obsesiona el orden. No. En esta película se muestra hasta que punto este trastorno es incapacitante y arruina tu vida profesional y personal.
"The Aviator"(Martin Scorsese,2004); también sobre #TOC, pero más "comercial" y menos centrada en la realidad del trastorno. Lo que es interesante aquí es ver cómo el dinero consigue "ocultar" el trastorno y hasta lo reviste de "genialidad"; hasta que todo rebienta.

Starting a series of tweets on the Parable of the Two Sons (Luke 15:11-32), part of a climactic structure with the lost sheep + lost coin. We begin with an outcast audience in 15:1 'drawing near' as the older son 'drew near' in 15:26. Contrast 'far' in 15:13, 20. #Parableof2Sons
Language of proximity + distance in #Parableof2Sons parallels + contrasts deeper realities. Sinners are close to Jesus physically + spiritually. The older son is physically close to dad, but emotionally in a far land. The younger son is far physically, but close to dad's heart.
Two contrasting groups hear #Parableof2Sons (Luke 15:1-2). Like a #pixar kids' film with lines only the adults get, some parts of the story are only for real Bible geeks like the scribes. Jesus challenges them to spot how almost every part of his story comes from the OT.
It seems, Steve Jobs used to run Apple more like a Film Production Studio than a Technology company. Replicating a 2 year movie production pipeline to a 2 year mobile production. Releasing with no half done incremental product improvements because there is nothing like
half done movies, half done movies are bad movies, so there exist only good movies and bad movies. Leading and commanding the teams like a Movie Director and then preparing the red carpet launches. Cohesive Design Vision at its best.
