Probable community transmission of Monkey Pox in London.

We need vaccines to be procured and disease awareness in the community with NPI’s instructed. amp.theguardian.com/science/2022/m…

Monkey Pox is transmitted between humans via respiratory secretions. The usual droplet dogma is advised by CDC, but I doubt that will be enough once it gets going. Use airborne disease control precautions, just like with COVID-19.

It’s also thought to spread through contact.
Kept a screenshot of this one, in case we later say monkey pox wasn’t aerosol and airborne. nj.gov/agriculture/di… Image

A few mths before getting #LongCovid in Nov 20 I was a frontline NHS respiratory consultant; 6am gym goer; couldn’t sit still, always travelling the world with my wife & 2 gorgeous children. Sep 21- bedbound, gastroparesis, complete sound & light intolerance, bladder incontinence ImageImage
post-viral urticaria that made me suicidal, pericarditis, angina, cognitive impairment, crippling #POTS resistant to all medication, renal impairment, impaired glucose tolerance, intolerant of most foods. Was waiting for life to end. Got v little help from @NHSEngland 2/n
Have spent over £35,000 on supplements, private specialists & experimental treatment in Germany. I am better but still housebound, 50% bedbound, with work or family life a distant dream. Yet I am one of the lucky ones- had the resources to give myself a fighting chance 3/n

Deaths due to Covid: UK, 145k, South Korea, 3k
Life-altering cases of #LongCovid: UK, 200k, South Korea, negligible

THREAD on my experiences living in South Korea and the UK during the pandemic. What South Korea got very right and the UK got very wrong ↓↓↓↓ 1/
When I arrived in SK last September, I was put on a bus and sent to a hotel to quarantine for 14 days. It was a very tight operation. You had to quarantine wherever you were coming from. You could not leave your room for 14 days. Everyone you interacted with wore hazmat suits. 2/
When I arrived back in the UK last November, it was a shambles. There was no hotel quarantine, and certainly no bus to transport me there. It was instantly clear I had arrived on #plagueisland. 3/

On Twitter I’ve always aimed to convey fact-based views. As a Lib Dem I believe President #Macron is right to make #COVID health passes mandatory to protect the people of France’s freedoms. The #LibDems should do so too but took a mis-step at the spring 2021 conference. Why?
Because as President #Macron said, it’s about citizenship. Freedom only exists if the freedom of everyone is protected. If by exercising our freedom we contaminate our fellow citizens it’s become irresponsibility, which is worth nothing. The #LibDems motion, seeking a liberal
response to the pandemic, tried to do too much too fast. The motion actually says that the party rejects the need for ‘#vaccinepassports’ for domestic use. That was before the Delta variant took hold. Has the need changed? I think so. The motion says Conference believes

Just want to say that @BorisJohnson & @SajidJavid are playing a very dangerous game. By allowing case numbers to grow, the UK has more cases than the entire #EU27 combined. We are a petri dish for a new mutation that could out smart present vaccines & could endanger the world. 😖
And, this government is also condemning young people to catching #COVID19 and the risk of suffering #LongCOVID. People over in the US are horrified that school age children are not wearing masks and are not yet being vaccinate. Our schools are presently super-spreader sites.
As I was saying earlier... 😳

UK scientists caution that lifting of Covid rules is like building ‘variant factories’

Experts react with dismay to ‘frightening’ attitude of Sajid Javid towards removing protections
