Nigeria has made a lot of progress in preparing and responding to disease outbreaks and epidemics. I remember my early days of public health; some 15yrs ago it's @WHONigeria that prepared and shared the #weeklyepidemiological report for Nigeria... a thread!

For every outbreak or public health emergency in Nigeria, we heard more about @WHO who appeared to be at the forefront with @Fmohnigeria and its agencies; old #NPI which merged with @NphcdaNG fought #polio with the support of @WHO @UNICEF @Rotary etc.

With time the #Epidemiology unit of @Fmohnigeria grew in strength and capacity to lead the response. They also produced and sent out the weekly epidemiology reports for Nigeria, which hitherto was shared by @WHONigeria in collaboration with FMOH for sure. #Clap4NCDC

MOSQUE DEMOLITION:
Wike’s Condemnable Bahaviour

All rationale and conscious citizens of this great country, Nigeria should join in condemning the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike (@GovWike)...
...for recklessly demolishing the Rainbow Town #CentralMosque located at the Trans-Amadi Area of #PortHarcourt, and for irresponsibly declaring #RiversState a “#ChristianState,” and claiming to owe no apology to anyone.
Muslims and other right-thinking and peace-loving citizens should come together to condemn, in strongest terms, this irresponsible, reckless, rabble-rousing Governor whose apparent aim is to ignite a religious conflagration, the kind of which has never been seen in recent times.

It's 7 DAYS since a 7-storey building collapsed in #Portharcourt. Red Cross officials say there might be up to HUNDRED PEOPLE still trapped there. There is no URGENCY to this rescue! I remember how the world held it's collective breath when ONLY 12 boys were trapped in a cave!
The building collapsed on Friday which was a Payday. Labourers, contractors, suppliers & even policemen were on site. The pregnant woman who sells food as well. The Red Cross official doesn't want to be quoted but they gave us a much higher number than that.
Imagine if we had a natural disaster in this country, how would we react? Will anyone survive at this rate? I'm tired abeg.
