Wild animals that have increased in abundance and adapted well to human landscapes, including some rodent, bat and primate species, carry the most number of zoonotic viruses. The study indicates that infectious diseases like #COVID19 can be connected to environmental change. Wild animals threatened by hunting, wildlife trade and habitat destruction were predicted to host 2x as many zoonotic viruses vs. those decreasing for other reasons.
