#Punjab #Farmers were encouraged to shift away from #bajra #pulses #oilseeds #chana & enter #wheat-#paddy cycle by a assured price mechanism policy; why not assure MSP for #pulses to Punjab farmers, which can cut 16,627 crore imports, reduce paddy acreage & paddy #straw ?
An example to show, how the shift from pulses in Punjab happened.
👇
In 1960-61, #pulses acreage in #Punjab was 9.03 lakh hectares with production of 7.09 lakh ton, but; in 2018-19 Kharif, it dropped to 7500 hectares with a production of 6200 tons
The per kg cost of pulse import increased from Rs 16.88 in 2006-07 to Rs 42.80 in 2016-17 (rise of 10%/year). If India were to continue to import large quantities of pulses, the unit cost of such imports is to increase for sure. Why not encourage Punjab farmers to grow pulses ?

While the chaos of '#AcceleratedCitizensAccess' to #GPrecords continues to unfold:

...we've come across some perturbing items on the agenda for @NHSDigital's Board meeting this afternoon 👇 which I'll pick up on in this [Thread].

nhs-prod.global.ssl.fastly.net/binaries/conte…
First, beginning on page 158, are some Directions that @NHSEngland must know will be HIGHLY controversial - given they are telling @NHSDigital to use @PalantirTech's #Foundry to collect *patient level identifiable data* from hospitals... 1 Executive Summary NHS England are directing NHS Digital t
I'll tweet as I do a read-through, but even these first two paragraphs are incoherent, e.g. "...in a way that will enable." Enable what?

And if @NHSEngland Directs NHSD to use #Palantir, NHSE is *determining the purposes and means of processing* - i.e. it is a #DataController... Whether you are a controller or processor depends on a numbe

Coalesce is coming to SuperRare Friday, July 1st. It’s a collection based on circle packing and simplex noise. What began as a response to a Genuary prompt slowly developed into a larger concept. This project is the culmination of several months’ efforts.

#generative #codeart Image
The collection is divided into styles or sets, consisting of five pieces each. They're set apart by the combination of constraints used to place the circles, giving rise to different forms. Coalesce is the name of the collection as well as the first series in the collection.
The four styles are Coalesce, Multifield, Colorshift, and Lens. A new style will be released each Friday. Additional styles may be added in the future, but no further works will be added to the current sets.

Last week, me and a friend (André Duarte) presented an #art #instalation for the #processing Community Day Coimbra 2021. (@pcdcoimbra)

It's titled TAU-800B.

We put a ton of thought and ideas into it, so I'll be going over them here!

🧵
But first, TL;DR:

TAU-800B approaches the theme of Anachronism in many ways, some literal and some figurative. It is a full emulation of a time traveling computer, that despite having that ability and sporting a retrofuturistic interface, obeys computing paradigms of the 70s.
These strange internals (6 bit words, 6 word stack, assembly only) are fully exposed for the viewer that takes a closer look. Keeping with the 70s theme, there's also a complete reference manual next to the screen, providing further hints on the nature of the artifact.

"#Data: a new direction" - a public consultation by @DCMS on "reforms to the UK’s #DataProtection regime":

gov.uk/government/con…

The consultation ends on 19 Nov 2021, and you can respond by e-mail to DataReformConsultation@dcms.gov.uk or online here:

A quick sample of initial reactions...

We're clearly going to be hearing a lot about #LegitimateInterests, as well as #commercial and #public ones. The real question being, how do this Government's interests actually align with YOURS?

140+ pages on a Friday is a lot to digest, but @lilianedwards' "penumbra of often futile determinedly populist ideas largely not evidence-based" seems entirely consistent with @DCMS's Drunkard's Walk through #data and #ID this past year...

I decided to take a favorite pick every day during March to share it with all of you. The months start with unique entities and no symmetry, evolving to a max symmetry of 101 on months with 31 days.

#ICLR2021 cam-ready II: "LiftPool: Bidirectional ConvNet Pooling" w/ Jiaojiao Zhao is now available: isis-data.science.uva.nl/cgmsnoek/pub/z… No more lossy down- and upsampling when pooling! 1/n Image
LiftPool adopts the philosophy of the classical #Lifting #Scheme from #signal #processing. LiftDownPool decomposes a feature map into various downsized sub-bands, each of which contains information with different frequencies. Because of its invertible properties, ... 2/n
by performing LiftDownPool backwards, a corresponding up-pooling layer #LiftUpPool is able to generate a refined upsampled feature map using the detail sub-bands, which is useful for #image-#to-#image #translation challenges. 3/n Image

Hi, @ICOnews! Your advice to pubs, etc. on #collecting customers' details is (at this point in time) incorrect, where it says they are "#required" 👇 ico.org.uk/global/data-pr…

Until the appropriate Minister issues #Regulations, e.g. under section 45C of #PHA1984, the Government... Image
...has "#required" nothing; it is simply making a #request.

In other words, #collecting such details is entirely #voluntary on the part of the pub/bar/whatever - and #providing their details is entirely voluntary on the part of the customer.

Later in your advice, you use...
...the phrase "#encouraged to collect", which is (until #Regulations are laid for each nation) more accurate.

However, in listing people's #DataProtection #Rights, you omit to mention the most relevant one, i.e. their #RightToObject to #processing!

That you suggest pubs, etc...

Margaret's blog refers to @NHSDigital's #DataProtectionNotice for the #COVID19 #GPES extract, but somehow omits to mention that people's #Type1 objections (#OptOuts) WILL be upheld: Image
And also that, according to digital.nhs.uk/coronavirus/gp…, actually *enhanced* #InformationGovernance processes - involving both @TheBMA & @rcgp - will be in place for data #access, which "may" include respecting #NDOP on a "case by case basis": ImageImage
Meanwhile, @NHSEngland/@NHSX in their notice to health & care professionals (while notably failing to mention #Type1s...) confirms patients STILL have the right to #OptOut of having a #SummaryCareRecord, and that existing #SCR #OptOuts will be respected:

I've created a 'Random Marble Run' Generator for #3dprinting using #processing ( @ProcessingOrg ). Will try to explain how it's made in this thread below. 👇
I hope this technique is useful or inspiring for some programmer out there. "random space filling curves"
@ProcessingOrg Random Space Filling Curves is the key. The method is:
First: draw a maze into a grid (using a recursive bactracker for this)
@ProcessingOrg Second: Using some sort of 'bitmasking' calculate a value for each cell depending of the corners. From upper left counting clockwise values of corners are 1,2,4,8
Each possible value drives into one specific direction.
Example: 2,6 and 14 always goes up/north
