In “On the Air” by Lewis deSoto, one can literally traverse the earth, walking “on the air” and tracing a path from location to location. Different aspects of the artwork represent different aspects of traveling. #LewisdeSoto #PublicArt #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth
Visitors encounter patterns of isobars, which are pictures of areas of high and low pressure that occur in the atmosphere. They are made of specially mixed colors of terrazzo that were poured onsite. #LewisdeSoto #PublicArt #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth
The round medallions are international airports, and the design is derived from the diagrams that pilots use to determine the angle of ascent or descent into each airport. #LewisdeSoto #PublicArt #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

I got a shocking news from a colleague about the demolition of my installation - COMMUNITY at Ile Zik. I visited the site today, and I saw all that was left of it!
As the artist who created the work, I felt quite bad that I was not given any form of notification about the demolition, and sincerely wished that the work was professionally removed or relocated.
The installation had been vandalized so many times - first was the lighting (a few weeks after completion), then on July 11th, 2019 when some of the perimeter fence was stolen. Later in 2020, the metal pole carrying the the logo of Lagos state was also removed.

Every week I swing by the #NewAlbanyFlowPark to see the progress. I've been working on getting the 1st #PublicArt #skatepark in our region built for the past 4+ years, and now it's finally happening. Figured a thread documenting over time would be fun. Updates ongoing!
2015: This is what the original #skatepark looked like before we started. Built in mid/late 1990s, its best days were behind it. It has held up well given its history of flooding and age, but there were design issues and crumbling features that made it outdated and unsafe. ImageImageImageImage
April 29, 2017: @CCAH_NA & #HungerSkateparks held a series of meetings and a "Skate and Create" event to gather public input to find out what kinds of features and ideas our community would like. Highly admired local skater, Matt Brewer, was there from the start. #LiveLikeMatt ImageImageImageImage

1. [thread #decoro]
