The paratransit mode needs to be confined to where it belongs. Where it will be playing a feeder role for BRT and other formal modes. Nigeria is about the only country where paratransit competes with formal modes of public transportation.
Some would argue that paratransit is creating employment for our teeming youths. That is very true. It is for the same reason the government did not consider outright ban.
The exclusion of paratransit from major routes means higher patronage and higher income for BRT.
That in turn would mean more buses, wider coverage, improved ridership and more pax trips at affordable prices.
Unless we do not want the BRT anymore. But in the history of public transportation, the BRT is rated as one of the best things that happened to urban mobility in the
