The Irani Cafes of Bombay had close friends in the Irani Bakeries that dotted the old city. Whilst writing about the Cafes a lot of people asked me about them and I thought today would be an ideal day to talk about Bakeries in Mumbai #IraniBakeries #MumbaiBakeries
#pau
The 1st bakers of Mumbai were the Paowallas as they were affectionately called ie the Goans & they set up a whole slew of simple bakeries making pau and poie all over the city. They were continuing a Portuguese legacy. The word pau is the Portuguese word for bread #MumbaiBakeries
The Portuguese brought serious bread making to the Indian shores and bread soon became a staple in Goa & other Portuguese Colonies. The French, Dutch & British too brought their share of breads & bakery products, this is not to say there were no bakeries in India #MumbaiBakeries

29 days since CM @OfficeofUT ji (via VC), Dy.CM @AjitPawarSpeaks ji declared that 1950 beds spread across 3 Jumbo Centers are ready to treat critical #COVID19 patients in #Pune.
It is infuriating to know that almost 45% beds are still inoperational today (1/5)
AS of today COEP Jumbo #Covid Hospital has only 330 Beds (270 Oxygen, 30 ICU, 30 ICU Ventilator) operational instead of 800 (600 Oxygen + 200 ICU) expected to successfully treat critical patients with advance stages of infection & help reduce the mortality rate of #Pune (2/5)
Currently there are only 4 ventilators available for #Pune City across Govt & Private Hospitals. These numbers are all from official dashboard, the on-ground situation is even worse. Everyday patients are losing their lives due to lack of early intervention & ventilators. (3/5)

The graph of building a city’s medical infrastructure should always be higher than the progressive cases of #COVID19 infection. #LockDown is not a remedy, it is supposed to be an intervention to give administration time to better equip & strengthen medical infrastructure (1/9)
It’s been more than 100 days since we had #LockDown1 and its unfortunate that even after me raising concerns for weeks now, the state leadership has failed woefully in preparing #Pune for this spike in #COVID19 infections, forecasted by most epidemiology studies & models. (2/9)
Pune’s COVID Warriors including our very own Mayor have done a commendable job in helping curtail the spread of virus. I truly believe that 1000 cases/day for city the size of #Pune is alarming only because of the lack of hospital beds & infrastructure for early treatments (3/9)

Why one should invest in what suits their true risk appetite? #story
Generally my father in law does not introduce me to his friends for investment guidance. 1. Because generally I am extremely blunt when it comes to investment guidance 2. I only mostly explain #risks involved
But I think his friend really forced him so he finally introduced me to this gentleman who retired from government service, has good pension and also has a frugal life style so has lot of money saved. He wanted to invest his just matured FD into a MF because FD rates were low.
After few minutes of talking to him I realised he had never invested any money in #stocks #mfs or any equity instruments ever. As I continued I realised that he wanted to invest this money for a long term and wanted the wealth generated to be transferred to his son.
