The @HCoastGuard does not deny the rope incident, they they don't call it an attempt to tow the migrant boat. Interestingly, the @HCoastGuard did not mention this incident in its detailed timeline of events that was published on Wednesday.
The source tells @jeansouliotis that they used the rope in an attempt to control the circumstances inside the boat, ie to try to stabilize it. Not sure using a rope at an overcrowded boat is a good way to do this though. Definitely not a wise move especially when it comes from...

1⃣. »Ausreisepflichtige« werden immer mit abgelehnten Asylbewerber*innen gleichgesetzt. Das ist falsch. Aber wer sind die anderen? Zum Beispiel Visa-Overstayer, ehemalige Studierende, Ausländer*innen nach der Scheidung von deutschen Partner*innen.
2⃣. 2022 gab es ~13.000 #Abschiebungen. Hinzu kommen 27.000 erfasste »freiwillige Ausreisen«. Vermutlich sind es aber sogar mehr als diese insg. 40.000, da sich nicht jede*r bei Ausreise abmeldet.

🆘 Relatives informed us about a group stranded on an islet on #Evros river. The position they sent shows the people on #Greek territory. On the phone, the border guard station of #Soufli promised a quick rescue. We have no direct contact with the group & hope help is on its way!

⚠️ Ein Warnsignal, denn eigentl. sind solche Meldungen selten, da es für zurückgedrängte Menschen sehr schwierig ist, Kontakt zu einer lokalen Organisation in dem Land aufzunehmen, aus dem sie abgewiesen wurden, ohne dass ihnen dabei geholfen wird.
