#REDFLAG: So, it appears, Barr has likely opened a DOJ investigation into the Bidens, as we feared...
#REMEMBER: In May, Trump said it would "certainly" be "appropriate" to discuss opening an investigation into Biden with Barr.

“Certainly it is a very big issue...I have not spoken to him about it. Would I speak to him about it? I haven’t thought of that."
washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…
#REMEMBER: ALSO in May, Barr dodged answering Sen. Harris's question as to whether Trump, or any White House official, has ever asked or suggested that he open an investigation into anyone...

He couldn't quite "grapple with the word 'suggest.'"

#REDFLAG: Trump just admitted he's trying to find out the identity of the Whistleblower.
#WATCH: Trump: "We're trying to find out" who the Whistleblower is.

Outing their identity would be a felony, punishable by up to 3 yrs in prison.

As a matter of fact, his suggestion alone and threatening tweets are witness intimidation. Also impeachable.
***As Whistleblower protections are a hodge-podge of overlapping laws...it is unclear what the *specific* penalty would be for revealing their identity.

Doing so would certainly be illegal, as well as reprisal and witness intimidation.

All are undoubtedly impeachable offenses.

#REDFLAG: I think we all should prefer that Scaramucci stays out of this. Particularly when he uses the term "Whistleblower."

If any of his alleged "whistleblowers" prove not credible, they will be used to discredit the original whistleblower, and any others who speak out. [1/2]
After 2 credible accusers came out against Kavanaugh...

Michael Avenatti swooped in with an alleged accuser...who later recanted.

That false accusation was used to discredit the credible accusers, rallying support for Kavanaugh b/c they thought he was "treated unfairly." [2/2]
#CORRECTION: Avenatti's alleged accuser did not fully recant.

She did backtrack and contradict several parts of her own sworn affidavit.

This alleged accuser was used to discredit the two other credible accusers. It helped rally support behind Kavanaugh.

#REDFLAG: If Trump was deliberately withholding defensive aid to Ukraine, in exchange for fabricated dirt on the Bidens...

What is he willing to GIVE China in exchange for fabricated dirt on the Bidens...while he's in the midst of a failing Trade War that's hurting the economy?
#FLAG: Worth noting, Trump and his Republican defenders keep mentioning China...
#WATCH: About a week ago, I flagged my concern that Trump might ask China for help investigating the Bidens...

...giving China leverage in trade negotiations, or perhaps even, concessions in exchange.

Today, Trump asked for China's help from the WH lawn.

#REDFLAG: The Intelligence Community whistleblower complaint about Trump’s communications with a foreign leader centers on UKRAINE.

Trump made a "promise" to the foreign leader that poses an urgent threat to our national security/intelligence interests.

#REMEMBER: Ukrainian prosecutors dropped investigations into Manafort + Kilimnik, let Kilimnik flee to Russia out of reach, and withdrew their offer to cooperate with Mueller...

Then, Trump finally approved long-pending defensive weapons sales to Ukraine.
#REDFLAG: Trump pressured President Zelensky of Ukraine to investigate the Bidens EIGHT TIMES on a July 25th call.

He urged Zelensky to work w/ Giuliani.

Giuliani pressed Ukrainian officials in 2 meetings this summer; one set up by the State Department.

145 CEOs Send Senate Fake Numbers With Demand For Red Flag Laws And Background Checks lidblog.com/145-ceos/ via @yidwithlid
@yidwithlid The executives from companies including Walmart, Yelp, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Levi Strauss and Company, Uber, and more warned the upper chamber that the country needs stronger background checks, and red flag laws to prevent “gun violence.
@yidwithlid What the corporate executives above and the liberals who are pushing red flag laws don’t tell you is that they destroy our rights “endowed by our creator.”

Ten reasons why you should oppose #RedFlagLaws, a brief thread.

1) #RedFlagLaws are an inversion of “innocent until proven guilty.” The standard of evidence is low and while state laws vary, many different people, not just family, can report you.
2) You don't have to be in the room (and advance notice isn't required) for the petition to be granted meaning you must wait to defend yourself. Most laws provide no penalty for abuse and no state law allows for civil cause of action against false accusers.
3) Time varies as to how long until respondents can have their day in court. A study conducted on Indiana's law, which said 14 day wait, revealed that the average wait was 9 months. Rights delayed are rights denied.

#REDFLAG: Yet another stark reminder...

We must flip BOTH the Senate and the White House.
#FLAG: Which GOP Senate seats are you focused on flipping?

Which Dem Senate seats are you focused on defending?

Remember, we must #FlipItBlue AND #KeepItBlue to #FlipTheSenate!

#REMEMBER: Trump is cynically "saving" Judge Amy Coney Barrett for Ruth Bader Ginsburg's SCOTUS seat.

"I'm saving her for Ginsburg."

She is anti-choice, anti-Roe v. Wade, and against everything RBG spent her life fighting for.

We must #FlipTheSenate.

"#RedFlag" laws can be used to both seize the property of a citizen convicted of no crime & preempt their rights of self protection.
Hence procedural rights of the "accused" should exceed even those afforded in Miranda and the State burdened with "proof beyond reasonable doubt"
This includes the right of a person accused under a "#RedFlag" law to be "provided counsel if they cannot afford counsel", the right to request a trial by a jury of their peers and most importantly the right to face their accusers and have them cross examined in an open court.
Further, any Federal "#RedFlag" laws should mandate that perjury in testimony that could have denied a citizen their civil right of self protection will be considered an aggravating circumstance and remove any DoJ privilege to assert "prosecutorial discretion" in these felonies.

1. I proposed the perspective that Trump could be using the #RedFlag laws as a means to start checking out the other influencers of mental illness that leads to shootings. #Q agrees...there are REASONS behind shooters and they need to be investigated.

2. Law enforcement should investigate the therapists. That's quite the leap, isn't it? When everybody is about blaming guns, a true and sensible voice enters the room.

A good research project would be to discover just how many external influences were reported by the shooters.
3. This is where the #RedFlag law discussion would truly get results. Start mandating certain criteria be met by therapists and that each patient be given a dependable and trustworthy evaluation process. Insist on recorded sessions and documentation of findings.

You know what's intellectually lazy? Using the same tired arguments after every mass shooting.

We need to find a way to address gun violence so we don't have 49 people get shot up for enjoying their lives. And still preserve the Second Amendment. 1/

#WATCH: Mueller warns...Russia continues to attack our elections "AS WE SIT HERE."

Q: "Did you think that this was a single attempt...or did you find evidence to suggest [Russia will] try to do this again?"

MUELLER: "It wasn't a single attempt. They're doing it as we sit here."
#FLAG: Mueller fears that accepting #ElectionInterference is the "new normal."

Q: "Have we established...[that any candidate] aware of a hostile foreign power trying to influence an election has no duty to report?"

MUELLER: "I hope this is not the new normal, but I fear it is."
#REDFLAG: The NRCC, the committee to elect Republicans in the House, REFUSED to pledge not to accept/use hacked materials in 2020.

It wasn't a part of ANY coverage today, despite Mueller's warnings about #ElectionInterference and fear of the "new normal."

#REDFLAG: The case to KILL the #ACA by the Trump Administration and 20 Republican AGs will proceed on 7/9.

Oral arguments will be heard by a panel in the 5th Circuit.

In Dec, a judge in TX ruled that the ACA is now unconstitutional (b/c the GOP repealed the individual mandate).
#REDFLAG: The Trump DOJ is now arguing that Congress and Dem State AGs CAN'T DEFEND the #ACA in court.

After refusing to defend the #ACA as 20 Republican AGs try to kill it...the Trump Administration is trying to block Democrats from defending it instead.
#FFS: One on the arguments Trump's DOJ is using to block Dem State AGs from defending the ACA...

...is by claiming that even if it's struck down in the red states suing, doesn't mean that it'd be struck down nationwide.

That's not how FEDERAL laws work.

#REDFLAG: After a setback in the Supreme Court, Trump asks his lawyers if he can DELAY THE CENSUS

The census is constitutionally-mandated to begin in April 2020, under Article I, Section 2.

Trump is asking if he can IGNORE the Constitution b/c he doesn't like a SCOTUS decision.
#RELATED: The Supreme Court ruled against the Trump Administration's proposal to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census...for now.

It would've led to a severe undercount, which would've rigged elections and resources in favor of white Republicans.
#HUGEWIN: The Trump Administration will begin printing the 2020 Census WITHOUT the citizenship question.

After missing their deadline, some feared Trump may actually try to defy the Constitution and the law.

This is an incredible victory for democracy!

#REDFLAG: You probably have heard...

Banker Stephen Calk has been indicted for approving $16 MILLION in loans to Paul Manafort...in exchange for a spot in the Trump Administration.

HOWEVER...there are a couple of KEY POINTS many seem to be missing...
#REDFLAG: Stephen Calk isn't just a banker who approved loans for Manafort for a job.

As of August 2016, he was ON THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN'S Council of Economic Advisors.

Every headline is missing the point...ANOTHER TRUMP CAMPAIGN ADVISOR was just indicted.
#REDFLAG: Manafort wasn't on the Trump team when he promised Stephen Calk an interview.

So, Manafort emailed JARED KUSHNER to ask him to consider Calk for a “major appointment.’’

On Nov. 30th, Kushner wrote back: “ON IT!”

...AKA "Transition Official-1."

#REDFLAG: Hear me out. It's important.

We're FUNDAMENTALLY talking about Barr and Mueller in the wrong way.

According to the Special Counsel rules, in basic terms, the Attorney General MUST notify Congress if he ever disagreed, overruled, or blocked the Special Counsel.

[1/2]
#IMO: Barr violated DOJ rules by failing to disclose he OVERRULED Mueller.

In his first letter, Barr told Congress "there were no such instances" where he disagreed, overruled, or blocked Mueller.

But, his decision to exonerate Trump, when Mueller would not, is just that. [2/2]
#RELATED: While the Special Counsel rules mandate that Barr notifies Congress if he interferes w/ the investigation...

...those rules DON'T apply for the 14 investigations Mueller handed-off.

They could be impeded and Barr wouldn't have to tell anyone.

#REDALERT: The 6 Democrats invited by DOJ to view a less-redacted version of the #MuellerReport have DECLINED the offer.

I initially agreed with this, as it could strengthen the subpoena fight.

HOWEVER, if DOJ moves forward...then ONLY REPUBLICANS will see that version on Tues.
#REDFLAG: People like McCarthy, Nunes, Jordan, and Burr...will be able to mischaracterize what's redacted, while Dems won't be able to push back.

They'll also be able to WARN Trump...AND the people under ongoing investigation what it says.

Potentially jeopardizing those cases.
#REDFLAG: These Republicans would also be able to tell Trump which U.S. Attorney's Offices are handling each of the 14 redacted investigations.

Trump and his allies could target the investigators and/or replace them.

#NOTE: Barr has no duty to report if those cases are impeded.

#REDFLAG: In Feb, after Trump was forced to reopen the government for 3 weeks, following the 35 day #TrumpShutdown...

...a bipartisan committee hashed out an immigration funding compromise to avoid another one.

But...WHERE. DID. THE. MONEY. GO?

[THREAD]
nytimes.com/2019/02/14/us/…
#ATTN: The bipartisan deal included:

🔹 $1.375B — 55 miles of New Fencing.
🔹 $524.2M — Ports of Entry + 600 New Border Agents.
🔹 $415M — Humanitarian Aid at Border.

AND...

🔹 $563.4M — for Immigration Courts, (incl. $59M for) 75 NEW JUDGES.
🔹 $527M — Aid to Central America.
#FLAG: Congress JUST passed funding for 75 new Immigration Judges, largely to hear asylum claims.

Today, AG Bill Barr boasted about DOJ's progress...PRIOR to this year.

Yet, he's requesting $72M to hire 100 new judges in FY2020.

But...WHERE DID THE MONEY GO FROM THE LAST DEAL?
