Time for a little thread on the pending removal of Alberta's (and SK, and maybe ON etc) Vaxx Passport (Orwellianly known as the Restrictions Exemption Program) #REPnotRIP. 1/
The passport serves three purposes: 1) decrease transmission rates in the population (it is an important layer of swiss cheese). 2/

Kenney seems to think the end of vaccine passports will be some huge win. Why? 79% of us are vaccinated. Many people I know still donβt feel confident about going to restaurants. As Hinshaw has repeated, βno matter where you go at least one person there will have Covid.β
Many Albertans feel an extra sense of security and confidence going to a restaurant because they know everyone around them is vaccinated. Could they still get Omicron? Possibly. But the chance and severity is reduced.
There are countless restaurant workers who have been sick this past month because theyβre working with unmasked patrons all day. Dozens of restaurants have had to temporarily close due to illness. This risk will now be heightened.
