It's so incredibly surreal to me that #RWBY9's finale just aired. It's been in production in some form or another since mid-2020, which is easily the longest I've ever worked on something before it aired.

Not because I ever doubted it, I knew early on that it was special, but because it meant so much to me.

But sometime during making this vol, something clicked for me.
I started being kinder to myself. I tried to focus on the positive more. I started truly believing others when they complimented me (or at least trying, it's a process)

So...I just watched episode 9 and holy shit, how did the writers take all of the intrigue and actual curiosity I had for this season and Ruby that they built up last episode, and just annihilate it in under 15 minutes?!

Let's just get the biggest piece of failure out of the way. So Ruby drunk the damn tea not to "ascend", but to literally end herself because she was so overwhelmed by life and the world, yet the story completely ignored this reality in favor of the ascension angle, and treats it>
as such. The gang aren't reflecting on how they failed to help Ruby or dealing with the grief of literally failing to keep their loved one from making the biggest mistake a person could do to themselves. No, instead, they look at the reincarnated paper people & herbologist and>

How it made her the heart of team RWBY.

From my (extremely biased but at least her me out) perspective, Yang is the heart of team RWBY.
The easiest way to break the team, is to take her away from them.
Volume 8 did a great job of showing this through everything going wrong the moment Yang fell.

able to keep a clear mind at that moment was Weiss, and even she wasn't enough to ground Ruby and Blake in time.
You could argue that regardless of who fell, the result would have been the same, but I want to disagree a bit with that.
