#RWBY #RWBYSPOILERS OKAY THEORY TIME I was talking to a friend and he mentioned the idea that Alyx Might Still Be In The Everafter, which made me come up with a theory of my own with this idea in mind, as well as a theory of the identity of the mystery blacksmith person
From Oz and Oscar's account of the fairytale, we learn that Alyx ended up in the Everafter when she was running away from a mistake and it wasn't until she had "learned her lesson" that she returned to Remnant, but when she did return, "she wasn't the same girl anymore"
What if that was more literal than originally thought? Now with mentions from the Cat and Herbalist about how "times change and so do we" and how "kings become princes" what if the Everafter can fundamentally change your very identity? Or rather can "shed" PARTS of your identity?

So episode 7 of volume 8 has just been released and I must say...I don't know how I feel about this episode. I wouldn't call it good, yet at the same time I wouldn't call it bad either...this is a mixed bag. So I guess I'll just go in order.
So Salem's invasion is finally underway and her grimm army are swarming and overpowering the Atlas army. While I do like the panic and destruction the grimm are causing and seeing them apparently slowly overtake the army, the writers have made the Atlas military seem so poor.
Then there's the citizens of Atlas just chilling and walking around like it's a normal day, until the flying grimm get into the city...I'm sorry but what?! Even if you want to say they're confident in their military, you'd think they wouldn't be so carefree & out in the open! 😵

Kerry, congratulations. You've all managed to get me legitimately hyped for what's to come in this volume. Do keep up the good work, as this is yet another episode where I find far more good in it than bad. So let's get the bad out first.
First, let's cover the biggest negative of this volume, Cinder's backstory. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid backstory but it's literally just a dark Cinderella story that takes place in a hotel. This was NOT worth the 6-7 years of anticipation and feels pretty lackluster.
The next negative would have to be the major worldbuilding issue we get from Cinder's mentor, where he says at 17, she'll be able to take the "Huntsmen Exam". I'm sorry, what? So this backstory & Maria basically disvalue the existence of the academies completely, huh?

They’re not the same picture but it’s an interesting parallel nonetheless.

In case anyone was wondering, for me the main difference is that I think Ironwood was being much more genuine. Both Blake and Winter were groomed and manipulated, but Adam did it all knowingly while I don't think Ironwood was doing it as intentionally (not defending him though.)
Expanding on this, Blake's storyline with Adam was very much a narrative of personal abuse showcasing how predatory individuals take advantage of people, while Winter's arc with Ironwood is more a commentary on the dangers of authoritarian militaristic systems as a whole.

The discourses I predict after that premiere:

— Yang is still apparently a terrible sister because even though she willingly separated from Blake for the good of the mission she dared to speak bluntly to Ruby so clearly she hates her.
— B/umbleby is already bait or being dragged out too long because they didn’t kiss in the first episode even though R/enora got the same brief focus and this chapter was 90% plot stuff to set up the Volume.
— Ironwood is still somehow redeemable after being happy to kill two innocent people for no reason because “gruff tough macho man always right let me lick his boots even more blah blah blah.”

#CJs2Cents: The amount of people I've seen have no problems with what Before the Dawn did with Sun's character and the worldbuilding of RWBY, has me both depressed and concerned. I don't have a problem with people liking these retcons, but they don't see them issues. #RWBY
And because I know there's going to be people who come at me for this, let me clarify. This is not a new layer to Sun's character because it goes against what we've seen of Sun thus far with nothing to bridge the new "details" with his show counterpart. This is NOT Sun Wukong.
And as for that retcon of the world, let me just restate how the new rules they're coming up with for worldbuilding contradicts what happens in the show. Case and point. "Grimm being attracted to aura". The fuck?! So then Ren's semblance shouldn't work at all. #RWBYSpoilers #RWBY Image
