#RadfordFire update from @bigbearfiredept:
-------------------
(9/7/22 @ 5:02 p.m.):
As fire incidents begin, all focus and energy are directed toward the firefight. During this initial phase, the public may feel that accurate communication from official agencies is slow.
The initial attack of the Radford Fire has taken place from the time the incident was discovered on September 5, continuing through the last 48 hours, with all available resources being devoted.
As of 7:00 a.m. this morning, California Interagency Incident Management Team 11 has assumed command of the Radford Fire. Big Bear Fire Department is part of this unified command structure. From yesterday to today, workforces have tripled in number with apparatus and personnel.

I hope this helps someone who's been told to prepare for evac. Think of it as a reminders list, so for those being told prep to go? This is for you.

Prep to go...
Charge cell phones, pack chargers
Include power pack/solar charger [if you have 1]
Pets! Take your pets
Gather meds, insurance papers, passport, vax cards...

If car is in garage, back it out & turn it around so you're heading out. Know how to open garage door manually. [power goes out when poles/lines go down] So know how to open it yourself. Throw in "to go" gear.

#RadfordFire #AnimalEmergencyEvacuationShelter

The phone # on the San Bern Sheriff's Dept. evacuation post for help with animal evacuations goes to the Emergency after hour answering Service (15 on hold to answer) they stated were not aware of any evacuations
there fore, they could not advise what people evacuating with animals should do. I've called main Red Cross #, they don't know if the shelter is accepting animals or not and recommended to call the Big Bear High School.(no answer) I've called San Bern Red Cross number and it goes
to Voice Mail. I've called San Bern Sheriffs dept. dispatch and they said to take animals to the Big Bear Shelter. I called the Big Bear Animal Shelter (which is closed according to the phone message ) and it said to call the after hours emergency phone service.

Since there's currently 14 fires burning in CA, I think it's time we go over a reminder of defensible space. Once the heatwave eases, isn't it better to do it now, then to wish you had...later?

Plus, I'm always mindful that there are always people who are new to #California and have no idea what defensible space is. Here's what you need to know, and do to keep your property as safe as possible.
