I'm back home from #AWS #reInvent which means it's time to go through my top 10 favourite / most impactful announcements, in order. Let's begin!
#10. Amazon Inspector now supports scanning the packages of deployed Lambda functions for Java, Node and Python. Previously, scanning tools would have to be embedded into CI/CD, or forced via ECR Lambda deploys. A great addition to close the gap.
#9. AWS Verified Access is an identity-aware (ZTNA) HTTP/HTTPS proxy, which allows connections to an NLB, ALB or ENI within your VPC without a VPN or similar. Verified Access supports IAM Identity Center or OIDC for user-based, and Jamf or CrowdStrike for device-based access.

There's a lot of neat high-level stuff that @awscloud does (and yes, some ridiculous things to), but it all distills down to this: the infrastructure. And I'd say that if AWS misses being "the best in the world at it" it's by a hair's breadth at absolute most.

AWS has grown 27% year over year, but Amazon is getting pounded because of the underpants store underperforming + analysts being bad at forecasting.
It would have posted only a 26% growth rate but they tricked me into a big SageMaker Canvas bill.
I was a AWS customer for 7+ yrs before I joined AWS 3 yrs back as a Solutions Architect. I have learnt more from re:Invent sessions about AWS than most of the internal enablement sessions.
