Tara Reade calls for release of @JoeBiden's Senate records: 'Why are they under seal?'
#ReleaseTheRecords

foxnews.com/politics/tara-…
"I'm calling for the release of the documents being held by the University of Delaware that contain Biden's staff personnel records because I believe it will have my complaint form, as well as my separation letter and other documents," Reade told Fox News on Tuesday.
"Maybe if other staffers that have tried to file complaints would come to light -- why are they under seal? And why won't they be released to the public?"

.@Chuckgrassley and the @SenateGOP keep touting the # of pages released, as hearing “transparency.” But an event invitation like this, duplicated more 44,000 times, doesn’t tell America about #JudgeKavanaugh’s record. #WhatAreTheyHiding?
.@SenateGOP’s ‘record-breaking’ document request? The Kavanaugh documents include more DUPLICATES than any Supreme Court nominee in history. They’ve padded the document request--for instance with 50,000 pages of duplicate event invites. #WhatAreTheyHiding #ReleaseTheRecords
Republicans are conducting an unprecedented & hyper-partisan vetting, hiding docs. related to his time in the Bush WH when critical decisions about now discredited torture policies were made. Instead they release 85k+ of duplicate docs. #WhatAreTheyHiding #ReleaseTheRecords

💥BOOM💥Everyone agrees that Kavanaugh lied to the Senate about torture in 2006. What nobody talks about is WHY HE LIED. He lied because he was PROTECTING Bush and Cheney from WAR CRIMES. That is why there is a @GOP COVERUP‼️

⚠️Under Kavanaugh, Bush’s excessive use of “signing statements” were a part of a larger agenda that claims exclusive control of war related matters for the President and holds that any involvement by Congress or the courts should be minimal⚠️ @benwikler @SenFeinstein

At first, when Kavanagh was nominated, top GOP senators said that “it just seems to be common sense” that all his White House papers should be released.

Then, on July 24, they met with Trump’s counsel. Turned on a dime. Now, releasing the papers would be “a bridge too far.” 1/
What the hell happened at that meeting? What did the senators hear? We don’t know, because only Republicans were invited. Their lips are sealed.

@SenatorLeahy, ex-chairman of Judiciary Committee, wants to find out. Here’s the letter he sent today to Don McGahn, Trump’s counsel.
As @SenatorLeahy notes, he’s been in the Senate for 44 years. 19 SCOTUS nominations. Voted on every current member of the Court.

In that time, he’s NEVER seen the White House interfere with the Judiciary Committee’s doc requests for a nominee.

Seriously: What are they hiding?

Even in the small percentage of docs made available to the Judiciary Comm thru the partisan process led by Kavanaugh's former deputy, we have found info raising serious concerns regarding Judge Kavanaugh’s ’06 noms hearing, where we believe he misled the Senate #ReleasetheRecords
That is why I joined @SenatorLeahy & @SenFeinstein to press the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman to request the public release of all documents from Judge Kavanaugh’s time in the White House, which he called the most “formative” preparation he had for becoming a judge.
Right now, the White House is saying to the American people: critical documents about Judge Kavanaugh’s decisions as a top staffer to President Bush are just like President Trump’s tax returns. None of your business.

So, uh, looks like Kavanaugh lied to the Senate during 2006 judicial confirmation hearings—even just going by the tiny fraction of documents that are publicly available. Said he knew nothing about Bush torture & rendition. But: was emailed talking points.

Republican superlawyer Bill Burck, who simultaneously represents Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus, and Don McGahn in their dealings with the Russia probe, is also brokering access to Kavanaugh documents for the Senate. He's keeping a *very* tight lid on them.
politico.com/story/2018/01/…
Grassley & Burck made deal where, of the few Kavanaugh papers that the Senate does receive, tons are labeled "committee confidential"—meaning the 79 senators *not* on the Judiciary committee don't get to see them.

Collins & Murkowski aren't on committee.

These cables confirm the findings of the Senate Intel report, and show why the release of a nominee’s FULL record before confirmation is absolutely necessary. We shouldn’t rely on restricted & incomplete records to evaluate nominees – whether to the Cabinet or the Supreme Court.
During confirmation, Gina Haspel asserted that the torture program produced valuable & actionable intelligence. These cables and the Senate Intel report suggest otherwise, yet the American public was denied information necessary to evaluate that conclusion prior to confirmation.
This shows why we must have access to all of Brett Kavanaugh’s records. The time to review his record is before voting on a lifetime appointment, not after. Reviewing a small set of documents that his own former deputy chose fails to provide a complete picture. #ReleaseTheRecords

Take note: Unless it was produced by the National Archives, every document you see from Judge Kavanaugh’s White House tenure was selectively chosen for release by his former deputy, Bill Burck. This is not an objective process. nytimes.com/2018/08/09/us/…
Because the National Archives won’t be able to complete its production of Judge Kavanaugh’s White House documents by October, Senate Republicans are getting ready to argue that the partisan Bill Burck document production is good enough to use for a September hearing. It’s not.
The Bill Burck document production is a partisan effort to flood the Judiciary Committee with largely irrelevant documents, like news clippings and mass emails, while withholding controversial documents from Kavanaugh’s record. It’s not credible.

We must step up and keep up the fight to Stop Kavanaugh from joining the Supreme Court. Trump may be bad at keeping his marital and financial commitments but he's great at keeping his worst political commitments. #BlockBrett

There is reason to believe we can win in stopping Kavanaugh from joining the Supreme Court. As @JeffreyToobin writes: “fighting Supreme Court nominees, even against formidable odds, can succeed—and produce a better Court than anyone might have expected.” newyorker.com/news/daily-com…

As we consider the Kavanaugh nomination – a nominee the public knows little about – we should follow the same standards of disclosure that nominees of Democratic presidents were held to. It’s about transparency and fairness. #ReleaseTheRecords
Justice Kagan produced 99 percent of documents from her time in the White House. Judge Kavanaugh also deserves the same level of scrutiny for such a historic nomination. #ReleaseTheRecords
The White House & Senate Republicans have decided to close the door on documents from a 3 year period of Judge Kavanaugh’s life when he was Bush White House Staff Secretary. What are they trying to hide? The public deserves to know what’s in those documents. #ReleaseTheRecords

The Republican Party is HIDING over a MILLION pages of Brett Kavanaugh's record. (Most of it is from when he served in George W. Bush's White House.)

What are you hiding, @ChuckGrassley?

The American people deserve to know.

#ReleaseTheRecords
Let's be very clear here:

The Republican Party REVIEWED THESE HIDDEN RECORDS THEN DECIDED NOT TO RELEASE THEM.

What are they hiding?

The American people deserve to know.

#ReleasetheRecords
By HIDING Kavanaugh's record, the Republican Party is BREAKING THE LAW.

The Presidential Records Act is very clear that these files are part of the public domain and belong to the American people.

What are you hiding, @ChuckGrassley?

To anyone who’s grown bored of my barrage of unhinged conspiracy theory-related tweets about McConnell-Chao-Anschutz-Gorsuch-Kavanaugh connections: I’m sorry, and I can’t blame you for being bored.

I believe, though, that if Kavanaugh’s appointed, it’s game over for America.
With a Supreme Court stacked against everything good for 99% of Americans, the sky’s the limit for fascist takeovers of every federal department, and for a Federalist Society rewrite of all policy.

“Vote!”—absolutely! But what if our votes are voided by a stacked court?
Write/call your Senators; write letters to editors; do whatever you can to stop Kavanaugh’s appointment.

That Kavanaugh’s backers are doing everything they can to bury his records from the Senate’s and from the public’s eyes is a huge red flag.

Here’s my statement regarding the refusal by @senjudiciary Chairman @ChuckGrassley to request critical documents related to Supreme Court nominee #BrettKavanaugh’s work as a senior advisor to President George W. Bush⬇️
The blinking red question is, what are Republicans so scared of? What is so disqualifying in #Kavanaugh’s record from the White House that they would accede to the admin’s wishes & ignore the precedent Repubs set in demanding exhaustive document productions by Obama nominees?
The Senate and the American people should have this information. Republicans ought to join us in demanding it rather than fight to keep it in the darkness. What exactly are they trying to hide? #ReleaseTheRecords
