Partially lifting the eviction ban undermines its effectiveness and opens up already precarious tenants to abuse from their landlords. We now return to our #renovictions #demovictions crisis. They want to get back to normal; their normal is our nightmare.

Developer/Renovicter Jon Stovall already stoking fears about #RealRentControlBC on @CBCStephenQuinn this morning, saying #VacancyControl will be 1 of "27 recommendations" the #RentalHousingTaskForce will make (1:48:00): bit.ly/2ywaJKP
He must be flaunting insider knowledge he enjoys w @bcndp b/c no info on the recommendations is public knowledge yet. BTW Stovall is president of Reliance Properties Ltd. - currently trying to mass renovict Berkley Tower tenants in the #WestEnd (ICYMI: bit.ly/2PpvPnS)

Contact your local MLA this week and urge them to vote against Bill 12 - 2018 (Tenancy Statutes Amendment Act) unless it is amendment to include the right of first refusal at the same rent for tenants where a landlord wants to perform renovations. #renovictions
This poorly considered legislation not only fails to prevent renovictions, but essentially makes them legitimate by entitling landlords to market rent following renovations.
