When the #EU passed its landmark #GeneralDataProtectionRegulation (#GDPR), it seemed like a #privacy miracle. Despite the most aggressive lobbying Europe had ever seen, 500 million Europeans were now guaranteed a digital private life. Could this really be?

Well, yes...and no. Despite flaws (#RightToBeForgotten), the GDPR has strong, well-crafted, badly needed privacy protections. But to get those protections, Europeans need their privacy regulators to enforce the rules.

A key milestone - we are proud to have helped 200 clients to remove damaging content from Google and Bing search results.

The main cases we are able to remove from search results are as follows:
•Spent criminal convictions (gov.uk/guidance/rehab…).
•People with convictions who received sentences of less than 4 years and have completed or almost completed their licence).

•People who have been acquitted or had charges dropped, i.e. evidentially false allegations (we can obtain copy of criminal record if required to evidence this).

•Missing persons reports where we are instructed by the actual person named in the report.

The internet is full of garbage, some of it dangerous, some of it odious, much of it illegal. It's hard to get garbage removed - I've basically given up on going after commercial pirate editions of my short stories on @Amazon:

As bad as the internet's garbage problem is, the traditional solution - "Notice and Takedown" where you send an email to a webhost claiming some kind of badness and they automatically nuke whatever you're complaining about - is far worse.
