I hope young black people shocked by the #RittenhouseTrial take some comfort from this extraordinary address to students.

Shameful that the same speech still needs to be made today, and everyday.

But it’s the only option.

Keep moving. #BlackLivesMatter
I can’t stop watching this.
Am always amazed when I remember he was only 39 when he was killed.
What a human.

Good morning from #Kenosha!

It's day 15 of the #RittenhouseTrial, and the 4th day of jury deliberations.

I'm in the courtroom today. Judge Schroeder has more unrelated cases -- and it appears jurors may have gone right into deliberation as they have the last few days.
Confirmed with a bailiff, jurors have gone straight to deliberations. #KyleRittenhouse
Yesterday, we didn't hear from jurors at all until the end of the day when the judge asked if anyone had questions when they were being dismissed.

One of the women on the jury asked if she could take a copy of jury instructions home, which Schroeder allowed.

One more thing with the #RittenhouseTrial

One serious problem is how much the media has been increasingly become part of the story—including part of the trial. Thread
As much as possible a reporter should not allow him or her self to become part of the story. Obviously that’s not always possible. If a reporter is doing an expose on human rights conditions in China and he gets captured by Chinese authorities, he’s now part of the story.
So I get that sometimes it can’t be avoided. But as much as possible it should be avoided. But now we see the media going all “Leroy Jenkins” on this.

first, the level of misinformation and disinformation coming out of the media has always been off the charts.

Good morning from #Kenosha

It is the 14th day of the #RittenhouseTrial … and the third day for jury deliberations

The front steps of the courthouse are empty for now.
Per @mtarm with the AP, a court official said the jurors have begun deliberations for the day.

They were behind closed doors for nearly 9 hours Monday (with a lunch break) and nearly 8 hours yesterday. #RittenhouseTrial
Yesterday -- jurors asked to see several videos in evidence, including drone video that has now become part of two motions for a mistrial.

The #Rittenhouse defense said it didn't know it had a lesser quality version until last Friday.

OK - now in #RittenhouseTrial, the prosecution is blaming the defense having a less clear copy of the video(s) on "the software on Ms. Wisco's phone." Inner City Press has been covering the case matthewrussellleeicp.substack.com/p/in-rittenhou… and will live tweet, thread below
Now Ms. Wisco (sp) - "I got a four millibyte file." [Megabyte?] "I down loaded it to this evidentiary laptop."
Question: What kind of laptop?
Wisco: Lenovo.
[Supply chain / lunch food echo]
Wisco: I emailed Binger and Krauss; Krauss sent me back the same four megabyte file. I drove to get the flash drive. Their file was 11 megabyte.
Krauss: Compressing is not our responsibility --
Judge Schroeder: Let her finish.

Good morning from the #Kenosha County Courthouse.

I'm inside the courtroom as we wait the jurors to return to begin deliberations on the charges against #KyleRittenhouse

Yesterday, jurors were behind closed doors for nearly 9 hours, with a break for lunch.

#RittenhouseTrial
The court reporter just informed us that the #RittenhouseTrial jury has started deliberating.

Judge Schroeder has an unrelated hearing right now -- which is why there is no activity in the courtroom.

I'm assuming they went into the deliberation room right around 9, then.
Nothing new to report here from Kenosha at 10:27 a.m.

Judge Bruce Schroeder walked in the main doors to his courtroom a little bit ago. He has an unrelated hearing in here in a few minutes.

We might get some sort of update then.

Some thoughts on #RittenhouseTrial (a thread)

1. Rittenhouse is on trial and rightfully so, but much like in the Chauvin trial, policing is getting a pass. Regardless of the verdict here, the racialized and violent institution of policing is once again poised to be acquitted.
2. Rittenhouse was a product of the racist, militaristic, and masculinist cop culture he idolized. The teen, dolled up in authoritarian finery, armed with an illegal weapon of war, went to battle "rioters," not his 1/6 allies, but those who dared protest raced police brutality.
3. Meanwhile police wereat the scene, also geared up for war & in tactical vehicles. We were told they were there to keep the peace. Rittenhouse, looking like a kid dressed up, paraded by with in his assault rifle - a lit match walking into one big powder keg. What happened?

The #KyleRittenhouse defense is about to present its closing argument.

New thread.
Judge Schroeder said he's not going to strictly enforce the 2.5 hour rule for closing arguments.

State was closing in on about 2 hours.
Defense starts by showing that Rosenbaum was in the Rundown Live video

“We don’t play fast and loose with the facts. Rosenbaum was a bad man. He was a rioter. And my client had to deal with him alone.”

OK - now back to #RittenhouseTrial closing arguments. ADA Binger: I have no doubt that the defendant had no idea what his weapon could do, he did not even look into it. Inner City Press has covered matthewrussellleeicp.substack.com/p/in-rittenhou… and will live tweet, below
ADA Binger: The defendant had fired at Jump Kick Man and miraculously did not kill him. Is it reasonable for a criminal to be able to shoot him way out of a crime scene? Could a bank robber do this?
[On the screen: "The Defendant caused the whole incident."]
ADA Binger: Full metal jacket ammo and pierce body armor and squad cars. It can travel five and a half football fields... We showed video of Drew Hernandez, who said he felt as risk here in little old Kenosha

Judge Bruce Schroeder is telling the defense he's worried reading the self defense instruction for each count it applies to could essentially bore the jury, because they will be talked at a lot today with instructions and closing arguments.

Instructions are 36 pages long.

1. Suppose there was a close election. Remember Bush v. Gore? Both sides went to court to win and one prevailed. Nobody really claimed any of that was an attempt to overthrow. It was a dispute over a close vote count. Some hardball tactics. But not really a crime.
2. The challenge I see in charging for what TFG and his crew attempted to do with the help of members of Congress is that, even a frivolous electoral vote challenge may not be unlawful. For me, the element that needs to be proven and connected to the conspirators is that they
3. agreed to commission of violent acts to effect their overthrow. I think that proof is likely in records that TFG is trying to block but I believe that the DOJ should have had access to those records since Jan 20 at noon. I believe that foreign intelligence services likely

Drew Hernandez on 11/3 in this podcast says about Rosenbaum "that's the pedophile that Kyle shot."

1/ THREAD: Rittenhouse, more than almost anyone you'll ever see, constantly partially suppresses a smile and/or laughter. Smiling out of context (during his trial for double murder) is a profound red flag.

#BodyLanguageExpert #BodyLanguage #RittenhouseTrial
2/ This behavior (know as Duping Delight) arises because the person displaying the suppressed smile/laughter believes that they're fooling their audience (even an audience of one). Of course, they may not be fooling anyone — but their belief that they're doing so gives them joy.
3/ It's important to emphasize that their is no moral value assigned to their joy (i.e., What gives a nun joy or a child joy is very different than what gives a sociopath joy.

Resizing images isn’t rocket science folks 🤦‍♂️ This is painful to watch… #RittenhouseTrial
Just put the original video up on the screen and put a giant magnifying glass up to it and the human perceived result is the same. The defense knows they are full of shit chasing this line of objections 🤦‍♂️ especially since they used the same methods for all their own evidence 🤔
How can none of these guys explain how resizing works? Not even the experts 🤷‍♂️ Just ask the judge if every time he punch zooms videos on Trumps campaign website if Trump changes from Orange to another color. God this is painful to watch 😂

WTF?
Now the Judge is saying that they are artificially inserting pixels into images on phones which changes the technology?
This judge is bonkers.
Alterations were made by adding pixels and it changed the picture or videos.
This judge is freaking bonkers.
And now they are arguing about images that the defense in fact used themselves by using pinch and zoom.
This sounds planned by both defense and the judge or he’s easily swayed by these objections….
He’s bonkers.

Good afternoon.

Here is the p.m. live tweet feed of the #RittenhouseTrial

The judge said he will be informing the jury the testimony from the FBI agent will be dismissed as they are not finishing testimony.
The first person the #Rittenhouse defense is calling is Nick Smith.

Smith is friends with Dominick Black, who bought the AR-15 for Rittenhouse.

Smith formerly worked at the Car Source he, Black, and Rittenhouse went to guard, armed, in Kenosha
Nick Smith is seen in this photo that was submitted as evidence last week.

He's in the white hat with the orange cross.

An employee of Car Source, Anmol "Sam" Khindri, said they never asked for anyone to guard their business.

The defense claims otherwise.

Today is day 7 of the #RittenhouseTrial.

Yesterday, we heard testimony from the man who survived being shot by Rittenhouse.

Today, we're expecting the state to rest its case.
Judge Schroeder said a lieutenant saw someone outside video recording the jury. The judge said the lieutenant told the man to delete the video, and the judge said the next time, he was instructed to take the phone from the person recording.
The judge was asked if that person has been in the courtroom observing the trial, and the judge said he is not sure.
