Thanks to the @washingtonpost for this:
Just to make this clear, let’s remind ourselves of the top Trump administration officials who have left in disgrace, been credibly accused of corruption or incompetence, or both. Here’s a partial list:
[cont2] #MichaelFlynn, natl security adviser: On job <1 month b4 resigning; pleaded guilty to lying to #FBI re contacts w/#Russia. #ReincePriebus, chief of staff: Resigned after 6 mos, comically ineffectual. #SeanSpicer, press sec: Terrible liar, resigned after 6 mos.
[cont3] #AnthonyScaramucci, communications director: Lasted 10 days after series of unhelpful media appearances. #RobPorter, staff sec: Resigned after allegatns of domestic abuse surfaced frm 2 ex-wives. #StephenBannon, chief strategist: Pushed out after 7 tumultuous mos.
Hey--remember when CoS #JohnKelly (the villain in every story involving Trump's inner circle) maintained #RobPorter's security clearance even though he knew Porter was responsible for #domesticviolence against both his former wives?
In case you forgot that story because John Kelly has done so many other terrible things since, Kelly ignored #RobPorter's abuse of his wives and prioritized protecting Porter over his victims theintercept.com/2018/02/07/rob… …
#JohnKelly is OBVIOUSLY the architect of today's threat to rescind the security clearances of Brennan, Hayden, Rice and Clapper. (Comey and McCabe already had theirs revoked.) These are not things Trump discerns on his own. He needs direction. Kelly--who hasn't resigned--gave it.
When did the White House know of the serious domestic abuse concerns regarding Rob Porter, the now fallen White House Staff Secretary?
(2) This question is crucial to determining whether those in the White House deliberately ignored security warnings and instead politically decided to retain Porter.
(3) As I told @JudyWoodruff on @NewsHour tonight there were at least 3-4 opportunities where WH had enough info to realize there were serious problems w/Porter obtaining a clearance and they could have, and perhaps should have, taken action. pbs.org/newshour/show/….
"We know that Rob Porter’s Interim Security Clearance expired on January 15, 2018. We also know that as the WH Secretary he was handling the..
most sensitive classified information that our intelligence community collects. John Kelly knew that Porter was not only a serial domestic abuser but also lacked the proper Security Clearance to be handling the information that he was seeing.
"Kelly and the rest of the White ...
House ignored #FBI’s concerns & possibly committed a crime by giving an unauthorized person access to classified intelligence for weeks."
"The General who was brought into the corrupt and chaotic Trump White House to restore order is just another player in the #TrumpCrimeWave."
This #RobPorter mess brings up MANY issues we in the #domesticabuse prevention space see routinely. As a #DV prosecutor on the early days post-OJ with CA's Nicole Brown laws new on the books there was a LOT of "you overreacted; he's a good guy at work." Sound familiar, #metoo? 1/
So many #domesticabuse victims and survivors have a similar story: good guy in public; horrible and controlling in private. So we EXPECT lots of "he was a good guy; she must be over-reacting; this is not the man we know" #RobPorter-type defenses. they have 2 faces. 2/
OF COURSE he will behave at work. That's his paycheck. That's his public face. But at home ... all the jealousies and toxins come out in his private face. Believe the people who see his private face. 3/
Invoking the #GoldToiletDoctrine... the Pentagon responds that the only place vice-president Trump’s parade can be done is in Puerto Rico! #PresidentKelly will lead the parade holding the token lightbulb.
... as Putin's Red Sparrow Brigade 🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦 fromThe Moscow Ritz-Carlton hover the VP's coif, sprinkling the golden shower hair tonic, to keep the wind from exposing his obscene scalp. 🐦nymag.com/daily/intellig…
... Of course Melania will be busy at Mar-A-Lago prepping the the future home of the"Museum of American Democracy South" which will be turned over to the people of Puerto Rico as reparations. Now all solar powered.
