That was an unexpected find and I swear I wasn't even doing such a specific search.

It's Tsar Nicholas II.

Swimming.

Naked.

At Tsarskoye Selo.

While working on #Romanovs100, the team found several photos partially colored by Anastasia.

... And that's how I had the incredible opportunity to finish the work the Grand Duchess started over 100 years ago.

This isn't the collab you were expecting!

Anastasia loved to "colorize" the family albums.

I knew I had a special reason to like her so much.
Maybe I'll learn a thing or two from her. ;)

I spent the day selecting photos from the Romanov Family Albums, where I found things like that. This is the kind of photo that interests me - much more than official portraits.
I love these albums and I can easily spend hours exploring them.

Around midnight on 17 July, 100 years ago today, Yakov Yurovsky ordered the Romanovs' physician, Dr. Eugene Botkin, to awaken the sleeping family and ask them to put on their clothes.

A few minutes later, Nicholas, Alexandra, their 5 children and their servants would be dead.
On 22 March 1917, Nicholas, no longer a monarch and addressed with contempt by the sentries as "Nicholas Romanov", was reunited with his family at the Alexander Palace in Tsarskoe Selo.
He was placed under house arrest with his family by the Provisional Government, surrounded by guards and confined to their quarters.

Here is the most touching and unusual collaboration I’ve ever made: while selecting photos from the archives of the Romanov family, the @Romanovs100 team found some photographs partially colorized by Grand Duchess Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II.
Anastasia loved to hand colorize their photos. Since she did not have a chance to finish what she started, it fell to me, over 100 years later, to do it for her. This project became very special and meaningful to me. Watch the video and see the result. #Romanovs100
One of the photographs hand-colorized by the Grand Duchess.

I feel truly honored and strangely moved by the opportunity to help her finish the job.
