Puff piece by The Weekly on Steve Bernal - a deputy turned sheriff after right wingers backed his campaign with $750,000. He is under @FBI investigation.

Bernal is a criminal (I’m an expert on Bernal) his letter and McKee’s complicity is not defendable. montereycountyweekly.com/news/local_new…

That aside and even though @GavinNewsom was touting another criminal (Anna Caballero, I’m an expert on Anna too) and has done nothing yet on the fact that the Attorney General of #California @AGBecerra was on the job when @JerryBrownGov pardoned former cocaine cowboy Dave D.

All is not lost. The GOV. Absolutely SHOULD, without delay or politics sign a sheriff oversight bill to deal with criminals working in our 58 counties where sheriff misconduct is largely unchecked until the @FBISanFrancisco and @USAO_DC start looking at things like:

THREAD: A patient at Napa State Hospital was having trouble with his medication in March 2017 and had an angry outburst in the courtyard.
Hospital Police Officer Michael Hauscarriague, the police chief’s son, “tackled” the patient into a concrete wall, breaking his eye socket and several teeth. The officer also banged his head, likely had a concussion.
Three other officers lied in reports and failed to interview many of the witnesses to the incident, a state investigation kept secret by police privacy laws later found.

Turns out a confidential informant provided OPD's Ceasefire Unit with the dirt on Walterhouse. The source had video, texts, and bank information providing Walterhouse was exploiting a sex worker.
The source, "X," was a pimp. He told OPD investigators that Walterhouse used Venmo to pay for sex.

Here's a full recap of what happened in Contra Costa Superior Court today, where five police unions and a sheriffs deputies union attempted to obtain a preliminary injunction to block release of police misconduct records under the new #SB1421 law.
Activists rallied outside the courthouse and questioning the motives of police unions (including officers from Antioch, Richmond, Concord, Martinez, Walnut Creek, Contra Costa Sheriff) who are trying to block application of #SB1421 to records dated pre 1-1-2019.
Before #SB1421, police misconduct files were strictly secret. What the new law does is open up SUSTAINED cases where an officer was found to have committed wrongdoing. Also, it opens all shooting investigations and use of force resulting in great bodily harm.
