As a mom and former educator, I know that kids can’t learn when needs aren’t met. They need nutritious food to succeed not only in school but to lead healthy, happy lives. That’s why I’m sponsoring #SB5339--providing free school meals for our state’s 1.1M students 🍊🍌🍞 (1/4) 🧵 
In the past few years, WA has made strides in reducing food insecurity among students⚡. In 2022, we passed #HB1878, which gives over half our students access to free meals. But hundreds of thousands of students still do not have access to the food they need to succeed (2/4).
WA will join a growing number of states that give meals to all their students. Universal school meals are already a reality in:
