In #Shakespeare's #HenryV, we meet a new man, a different one, from the #PrinceHal of #HenryIV. This is a man's man now. A man possessed of intention and given to execution. He knows what he will do and he does it.
But there are those that only know HenryV as he was when he was Prince Hal. These include his dissolute companion of those earlier days, the knight Falstaff, and the Dauphin of France, the heir apparent to the French throne.
In Act I, Scene 2, the #Dauphin sends an #ambassador to #Englang, rejecting a claim made by #HenryV to certain territories in France (a claim he rested on French laws of inheritance).

The Dauphin's message illuminates his misreading of the man, the King, #HenryV, by the Dauphin.

Oh gawd, I decided to go straight from Much Ado to Richard II and I don't think I can do this 180 from Tennant as Benedick to Tennant as Richard, it's really throwing me 😂 #Shakespeare
Play: this is a super serious fuenral with two men throwing dire accusations at each other
Me: Benedick your fashion sense has gone up 1000%
Also there are no captions on this video, which is really making me sad. I had hoped it was a site-wide feature, but apparently not? It's especially needed since the player's aren't mic'd. I can read along but it's distracting.

We're starting the #Shakespeare live tweets with Much Ado About Nothing with David Tennant & Catherine Tate, because its been a long time since I saw it and I love it :D
Benedick: I'll never get married, all my friends are getting married and it's the WORST, I'm never going to do it, I totally don't like Beatrice at all
Also Benedick: What do you MEAN you think Hero is pretty have you SEEN Beatrice?
Benedick: no one will EVER see through this clever disguise!
Beatrice: time to break this man's spirit for fun :D

He died in El Reno on this very day 6 years ago.

I spent years driving across America with him, looking at weather patterns, skies and the stars.

There is ALOT more to this story than most know.

First line of famous poems continued by the @openAI GPT-2 example model from "Language Models are Unsupervised Multitask Learners" #gpt2poetry #GPT2
It little profits that an idle king,
who loves his throne for a moment to enjoy a good meal,
might, if he was not in the right position,
become the subject of a great banquet.
But as the royal household will do,
so too shall their subjects. #gpt2poetry #tennyson
That is no country for old men.
They are old men of our land, of old times.
Nowhere is this more true than in these two cases,
as it now goes: the United States of America,
the oldest people on this Earth, are all in a state of rebellion. #gpt2poetry #yeats

(THREAD) When my son was in Gr 10 he brough home, To Kill a Mockingbird. I was angry -my child, was reading a text of a past romanticized by some, even tho it was riddled with #racism. I wondered how many texts he would read that looked like him. But he had to read that- why?
I had asked many times for a reading list of books theyd have in their English class. I asked if the texts looked like them, reflected their experiences bc #IdentityMatters. I never could get an answer. Replies included, it was a #Classic but y'all know #Classics aint #Neutral
Of course, the response when we have these convos - "Y'all want to Censor...". Funny how "#freeSpeech" and "#censorship" always come up when issues of #equity are being discussed. That our children shouldn't be exposed to #racism and #trauma they live EVERY. SINGLE. DAY

Had another great #Macbeth rehearsal with fun language discoveries. We tackled 3.2, the pre-banquet scene. Also basically tha last scene between the two of them (other than the coda to the banquet). #shakespeare
In 3.2, Macbeth tells Lady to treat Banquo well at the feast: “present him eminence, / Both with eye and tongue”
Compare this to their first scene where Lady tells him: “Bear welcome in your eye, / Your hand, your tongue.”
