The USDA is stopping key flexibility in #SNAP that the WH & Congress gave states back in March to help them manage the applications influx due to #COVID19 — saying states must return to “normal,” even though current circumstances are anything but normal.

New Report: @Laurenlbauer finds that young children are experiencing unprecedented levels of food insecurity during #COVID19. Food insecurity has doubled for all households and more than quadrupled among children from 2018 levels: hamiltonproject.org/blog/the_covid…
In late April 2020, 22.7% of households reported not having sufficient resources to buy more food. In 2018, that number was 11.1%.
Children have been particularly affected by the dramatic rise in U.S. food insecurity. 2 in 5 mothers with children 12 and under reported that they ran out of food & did not have enough money to get more.
