Dear @Conservatives,

13 years ago you inherited the #1 ranked healthcare system on the planet and look what you've done. We now have the longest GP, A&E, outpatient, and cancer waiting times in NHS history. 7.3m people long. You don't deserve power. You deserve prison.

It's absolutely true that 10 years ago the NHS was ranked the #1 healthcare system in the world. We were not perfect and still had plenty to work on but we were performing better than any other healthcare system on the planet. Image
Then this happened... ImageImage

The crisis is partly because private involvement has hollowed out the NHS

Outsourcing delivers worse outcomes for more money, costing the NHS

Outsourcing reduces NHS capacity

Plus outsourcing, competition by private companies draws staff away from NHS

The problems in the NHS are NOT caused by covid, yes they were made worse but the NHS were already in trouble before the pandemic,( if only this government were prepared for the pandemic, didn't they do some training to get ready?)the NHS worked so hard during the beginning of the
Pandemic and everyday since.
The lack of money spanning 13 years of underfunding has cause this, the Tories have been in government for 13 years ,how can anyone question who is at fault.
The total disregard and disrespectful language and behaviour this government is continuing is
So disgusting.
Prolonging the strikes by refusing to negotiate.
Blaming hard working NHS workers, talking about productivity.
The clapping on the doorstep means nothing!,every single person who clapped was showing respect, but for the Tories It was all a ruse to make us believe

Key points about the #NursesStrike - a thread from a nurse!

- More Nurses than ever are leaving the profession
- England along has over 46,000 nursing vacancies
- Staff shortages effect us all
- understaffing compromises patient safety

#FairPayforNursing #EnoughIsEnough #NHS
@theRCN and it's members will ensure patient safety throughout any strike action.

For many years patient safety has been at risk and Nurses pour in extra time and energy to try and minimise that risk, but it gets harder and harder and something has to change. @SouthEastRCN
Nursing pay has been rising below inflation for years meaning real term pay cuts. This correlates directly with less nurses staying in the job.

Nursing requires a degree to enter, and experience takes many years to gather. We have to retain and fairly pay experienced nurses

I had a great conversation on @LBC with @RachelSJohnson about the #NHS crisis. We spoke about the 4 major NHS problems of funding, staff, beds, and social care. She asked me to prove what I was saying. This is what I told her. #SOSNHS

🧵 1/4
I then spoke to @RachelSJohnson about how the NHS is the most efficient healthcare system in the world and I convinced her that a private health insurance scheme will do nothing to help patients. She was convinced. #SOSNHS

🧵 2/4
I then spoke to @RachelSJohnson about why I love the NHS and some solutions to the staffing crisis including a visa/ILR waiver scheme and citizenship for immigrant pandemic workers — just like they've done in 🇫🇷 — and why NHS workers desperately need a pay rise. #SOSNHS

A report on the state of emergency medicine.

It’s not good!

7 in 10 Clinical A&E Leads treating patients in corridors last week

“This is the height of summer and yet we are seeing a state of affairs that we’d be dismayed by even in the depths of winter.”
President RCEM.

As for the government’s plan:

“Little help for community health teams. Little funding. No timescales. No transparency. No accountability. No improvement. The ‘plan’ has comprehensively failed so far.”

Sounds familiar.

It’s tragic that we have to be so focused on a dysfunctional government, their various delinquencies, and their incompetence, as this lack of access to emergency care is one of the greatest threats to the British people.

Todays debate in parliament will not get much attention.

As thousands of people around the country demonstrate in support of our National Health Service on #SOSNHS Day, Dave Nellist says:

“With 6 million people waiting for NHS care – no to the Tory plans for £billions more contracts to the private sector."

2/7
"Instead take over the private sector as part of a renationalised #NHS, and integrate the big drug companies, medical equipment and PPE manufacturers into a comprehensive publicly owned, financed and democratically controlled health service.”
