#SP2021 Voting notes: 1/ Under @nicolasturgeon @thesnp has increased constituency seats from 53 to 59 in 2016 and IF keep all current seats then it will be min 62. That’s 85% of constituencies and unprecedented anywhere in the UK (ever?). And on high voter turnout.
2/ It is more seats than any party has ever won (Labour won 53 in 99 & 46 2003).
3/ The Tories in 2019 won 56% Westminster seats (365). For them to replicate this it would have meant winning another 185 seats. Even on England only basis 108 more. The best result in UK in modern history is Labour winning 418 seats in 1997. That’s 64% (And it was low turnout).

EU | Scottish Labour says that Scotland and the UK should have 'as close a relationship with the EU as possible'. Which means what? Keeping the Trade and Cooperation Agreement (which is not close)? Rejoining the EU? Something else? Some measure of vision and detail would be good
BREXIT | Scottish Labour opposes using Brexit to weaken environmental standards and the 'chaos' for fisheries from the 'botched EU deal'. Yet, it proposes nothing on how it would approach the EU relationship instead. Brexit and EU relations are presented as a passive exercise

This is beyond unacceptable and utterly shameful.

Gypsies and Travellers are human beings. You cannot use Gypsy and Traveller people as a political football with which to score votes.

Politics is already rife with anti-Traveller racism and for a 'Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities' to be doing this is completely beyond the pale.

To then argue that it was a case of not knowing what 'incursions' means is utterly baffling. (2/8)

In fact, @APPGGTR Co-chair @MartinJDocherty just this week wrote about the use of language during #SP2021. See here: (3/8)

Before we have polls to indicate how the Alba Party might do in the upcoming Scottish elections I thought I'd have a quick look at what social media tells us about their support...

#Holyrood2021 #SP2021
Alba officially launched last week, and since then they have gained:

⚫️ 8868 Twitter followers

⚫️ 1518 Facebook followers

Those don't feel like the levels of support I would expect a popular party with electoral potential to have. In fact I'm surprised by how small it is...
According to @crowdtangle, the Alba Party have only had a total of 5126 interactions on Facebook (likes, shares, comments, reactions) in the past week.

The majority of these (2993 interactions) were from the launch day...
