Apple was supposed to be in our @DEFCON talk.

We sent them the vulnerability 4 months ago. They contacted us before the talk assuring us that we wouldn’t mention them, and we said, “sure because it’s not fixed yet.”

The vulnerability was discovered using a virtualized MacOS
This is weird because the SRD is only for iPhones.

@Apple will you release a security research device for the desktop?

Does the Mac security not matter as much as iOS?

I used a jailbroken iPhone to verify and then on old OS via @CorelliumHQ.

Leave Corellium alone #safeharbor
Apple takes security researchers for granted. Every single CVE is discovered on non-SRD devices.

I don’t think NSO Group was in the SRD program 😂

I used my own security research tool, along with 130,000 others:

#Twitter & #Facebook are not getting #banned but If these significant social media intermediaries don't comply with the #ITRules they could however lose the safe harbor protection which means they could incur liability (civil & criminal) for the acts done by third party users.
The Rules could also undermine the principles of open & accessible internet, the fundamental #RightToPrivacy & #FreeSpeech & expression enshrined in the Constitution.

The #informationtechnology Rules, 2021 (#ILRules) which have been prescribed by the #Centralgovt under Section 79 of the IT Act are a set of compliances which the intermediaries have to abide by, in order to keep the safe harbor protection intact.

We've got a new proposed #SEC #token #safeharbor that would let issuers offer tokens in the US. It's big. But, what's new? How is it different from the prior proposal? What's new? You guessed it. It's unavoidable, It's inevitable. It's a #THREAD. Let's dive in/1
Right off the top, we have the elimination of the "good faith" provision that was previously implied upon the issuers in a(1) & of a(4) which required the issuer to act in good faith to "create liquidity for users." /2
New section a(5) includes reference to the new "Exit report" which is a new requirment defined and explained further down but tldr; its a report issued by the issuer's counsel that asserts whether the tokens will be a security or not after the 3 year period. Good inclusion /3

1/
ihrer Kund*innen (besser: Ergebnisse ihrer DatenraubzĂŒge) per Gesetz an US-Geheimdienste weitergeben mĂŒssen, was nicht gut ankam.

On 5/13, #SBA provided some relief for #smallbiz concerned with possible SBA audits, particularly related to “economic need” certifications and the “good faith” safe harbor. But, #PPP loan recipients did not receive a full reprieve from all challenges. kaneesq.com/insights/ppp-l

Despite the grace for “economic need” certifications, #SBA audits and post-hoc reviews still present significant risks for borrowers and even lenders, regardless of the #PPP loan amount.
Borrowers of less than $2 million should still prepare for potential #SBA audits and post-hoc reviews, particularly if they apply for #PPP loan #forgiveness. These reviews will likely require borrowers to substaniate size, #affiliations, #NAICS code, and even #creditworthiness.

One issue w/ @HesterPeirce's proposed #token #safeharbor is what to do with platforms that do not reach "#networkmaturity." Are those #tokens then securities? Is all prior trading of those tokens impropoer? A potential solution to unscramble this egg: Force all trading of
those issuer's tokens to be conducted on a custodial platform (ATS lite?) where the issuer can freeze the tokens and if, after 3 years, the issuer hasn't reached "network maturity," and then be forced to disgorge back to buyers. /2
Is this better or worse than simply requiring the use of an #ATS? Is it more reasonable to steer folks to RegA+ rather than to require issuers to run or contract for centralized mini-exchanges? (this would be more compelling if more A+'s made it thru qualification) /3
