Here at the DTLA Federal Courthouse supporting our friend @abogadatejana as she fights against the Trump Administration to keep from holding migrant children/families indefinitely. FYI these are same DOJ lawyers who tried to take toothbrushes from children. #saveFlores Image
🚨UPDATE 🚨 Judge Gee issued a tentative ruling saying the government can NOT hold children indefinitely! Fave quote of the hearing was when she told DOJ lawyer, “Don’t tell me it’s night out when I know it’s day.” Congratulations to @abogadatejana + the rest of #florescounsel!
No doubt the DOJ will still try and issue new regulations that try and undermine the #FloresAgreement and continue to appeal so case goes before SCOTUS, but for now migrant children/families are safe from being detained indefinitely. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

1/ When an outbreak of influenza hits your country, tripling cases from a year before, do you…

🚨 Vaccinate everyone, or…

🚨 Gather people from many countries into crowded spaces, deprive them of food and clean water, refuse to vaccinate them, and let nature take its course?
2/ There's a BIG SURGE IN FLU CASES in 2019.

Australia expanded its vaccine program to fight the virus.

President* Trump REFUSES to vaccinate people in #TrumpConcentrationCamps.

Barbed wire cannot contain influenza so MANY AMERICANS WILL GET SICK, TOO.

3/ Flu complications killed 80,000 people in 2018 in the USA.

President* Trump does not need gas chambers to commit genocide in his concentration camps.

He can just keep families in cages INDEFINITELY, and let influenza go viral.

This flu chart uptick for 2019 is HORRIFYING:

What is the #FloresSettlement? Think of it as a legal shield protecting migrant children. A shield to which this administration is taking a battering ram. No other administration since the 97’ settlement has ever sought to issue new regulations until now. humanrightsfirst.org/resource/flore…
As a reminder it was the #FloresSettlement that DOJ was trying to undermine when they argued migrant children didn’t need toothbrushes, showers or soap to meet the sanitary conditions set forth in the agreement.

Now, in its latest attack, to the #FloresSettlement, the Trump Administration wants to lift the limits on how long they can detain families. Essentially, they want the only shield protecting migrant children gone. #SaveFlores

Today the Trump administration announced a plan to kill the Flores Settlement. This is the agreement that’s supposed to stop them from locking children up for longer than 20 days, and is meant to force the gov't to treat those in detention with basic human rights. #SaveFlores
We asked some of the immigrants we advocate for what detention was like for them and their children.

The following tweets are their responses.
They show why killing the Flores Settlement would be a violation of human rights.
We must #SaveFlores.
Carlos: “Detention has affected my son emotionally, as well as psychologically, because he should be free and play freely. He keeps asking when we are going to get out of here and we don’t know a thing so we tell them that we don’t know, either."...cont.
