#onpoli #VoteFordOut here are key ridings where you can make a difference by voting strategically to prevent the Doug Ford Conservatives from forming government.
Ajax riding, the strategic vote is Ontario Liberal. Otherwise Ford may win this seat. Don't be fooled by his candidate that was on the school board, they have no interest in public education. NONE. Image
#Brampton East a riding that could MOVE to Doug Ford's PC's if the voters don't support the NDP in this riding. Image

Professional Update: This is my last week in the Prime Ministers Office & in the 🇨🇦 Government.

As a Kid from #Scarborough, my 16 year old self would not have dreamed this 👇🏽
I wouldn't say my journey is unique. But here is my story of a young brown kid who wasn't sure if he would graduate high school to working in the highest office & whose love for serving people & 🇨🇦 grew.

A few reflections & many people to thank 🙏🏽.
Born to immigrant parents 🇮🇳🇧🇧🇬🇧 in the diverse neighbourhoods of #ThorncliffePark & #Scarborough there were moments growing up my life could have taken a different path.

A postal code shouldn't determine access to opportunity & success, but it remains the reality for many.

So I decided to come by Scarborough Town Centre and can confirm that's there's a small antivax demonstration happening here. Many familiar faces from the video taken at Eaton Centre. #Toronto #Cdnpoli #antivaxxers #Scarborough
Compared to the Eaton Centre video where they kept to themselves this time the group could be seen gojng out of their way to interact with other patrons at Scarborough Town Centre
#cdnpoli #Toronto #Scarborough #ONpoli
Immediately following that interaction a bunch of them left their tables and began to hound @ConsumerSOS who was there for @globalnews accusing the journalists of working for the Government or CSIS

This happened.

I picked up about 20 signs this morning. Signs that I put up at 1 a.m.

Someone went out in the middle of the night and thought it would be a good idea to tag a BPOC candidate's signs with the word "racist".

I shouldn't feel hurt, but I am.
Many people don't appreciate just how hard this work is. As a BPOC woman, putting my name on the ballot was not an easy decision. I didn't take it lightly. I knew that something like this could happen, but I really didn't expect it, nor did I expect to feel this way if it did.
People don't realize the time and effort and money that goes into running a campaign. The emotional work. The long hours. I'm exhausted at the end of a 16-18 hour day, but I get up the next day and continue the work because I believe so strongly in it.

Announcement from @fordnation sank my heart today. As an ER doctor, person of color and #Scarborough native, I feel defeated 😢. The measures are not going to get wave 3 under control. #BIPOC #ERdoc @SHNcares @torontolife @JustinTrudeau @SCMirror 1/
When I landed as an #immigrant in #Canada, my life started in #Scarborough. My parents (#heros) struggled to find jobs that matched their education. That didn't stop them from working hard / hustling even if it meant 2 jobs at times to keep bills paid and food on the table. 2/
My family lived in an apt building that had mostly racialized/middle-low income families (#affordability). Not much social distancing when large crowds wait for elevators (#EssentialWorkers) or use the shared laundry facilities. This pandemic brings back those vivid memories 3/

Please walk a mile in my shoes @fordnation I’m not sure why you didn’t believe us weeks ago. Is it because I’m “just a community ER physician” in a hard hit area? You ignore us in #Scarborough. You ignore your own MPPs pleading for help. 1/
You ignore the fact that we have been transferring patients to Kingston, Peterborough, Orillia and Coburg for weeks. Now it’s Sick kids. You ignored our pleas for vaccine for months. We asked for an equitable approach yet our population is in dire need and our appts are full. 2/
You ignore our pleas for infrastructure funding when our ERs are too small for our population, when our buildings are old, when we don’t have enough negative pressure rooms or isolation rooms.

A closer look at #Scarborough that has seen a rather large jump in recent days. I can't see mention of a specific event in the media. Age range seems quite widespread although highest numbers concerningly in 70+ group. Image
Here it is against rest of North Yorkshire:
In rate terms this puts Scarborough in 10th place against all Local Authorities in England. In absolute terms it's 71st.

Sunday night #Scarborough bus story: Two women in hijabs sit across from each other. They look at each other. Finally they speak, quietly, shyly. After a few exchanges, tears start to flow and they become very excited, hugging and jumping up and down. >>
They are so excited, and they speak rapidly to their teenaged daughters. Who in turn cry with their mothers. There is a big commotion and everyone on the bus is curious. It takes a grandmother from a different culture at the back, who finally yells out, ‘What happened?’ >>
One of the daughters tries to explain to the bus. From what I gathered, the two women grew up with each other and were best friends in school. But were separated when one of the women’s mother married someone else and they moved away. The first woman wrote her friend letters. >>
