1/n THREAD👇👇👇

Ok, it's time for a long (& quite educational) tweetstorm about my experience with the #LNTrustChain2 (y'all know what that is: the 2nd edition of the very cool Lightning Network experiment launched some time ago by @hodlonaut). This is what happened to me.

I lost all the #sat I got. My judgment got clouded somehow and my payee is no longer active. So now not only are my sat intrinsically worthless; they have no market value either. I knew passing the torch was a bad idea, I just never realized it was this bad!😔

THE END (n=2)
3/n

Ok, ok, just kidding. Just having a good laugh at the expenses of our favorite "nocoiner", @PeterSchiff, who pulled some IRS-proof plausible-deniability move, pretending to lose everything to some shitty wallet installed by some #Segwit2X guy.😜

The #UASF was a defining event of #Bitcoin. 2 years later we may forget what the movement looked like early on. It was never a sure thing. Many people were confused & felt powerless in the face of what looked like massive support for a forced protocol change (NYA/#SegWit2x).
In fact many thought that #Bitcoin was over as we knew it. How could anyone (or any group) go up against such an overwhelming amount of hashrate and corporate backing? It looked like an impossible battle. But Bitcoin and Bitcoiners exist for impossible battles. #RememberTheUASF
All revolutionary movements start small. People started to organize & coordinate. Code was written. Memes were made. Hats were manufactured. Momentum started to build. Eventually the #UASF won the day. It was never a sure thing but we were 100% committed and that’s what mattered.

I enjoyed this conversation between @angela_walch and @PeterMcCormack; Angela is probably the most well-researched and nuanced critic of Bitcoin I've heard in recent memory. It's very important that we ask and answer the questions she poses. However... [thread]
I think her analysis of the power dynamics in Bitcoin (or really any opensource project) is incomplete:

1) Her suggestion that core devs be treated as fiduciaries in an official capacity, including recognition and compensation, would be disastrous. Two words: regulatory capture.
Though, as she points out, we devs are, at some moral level, fiduciaries of the project, any "official" appointment would dangerously stratify the power structures by cementing individuals as controllers of Bitcoin.
